As some of you know, I have a long rooted history with Avon. Well, maybe not that long rooted when you consider the company has been around since 1886 when founded by David H. McConnell. While I was never an Avon representative, I did work for the brand in marketing for over a year in their Mark. division. And as you can imagine it was incredibly inspiring. Their commitment to women and all that they have done to create financial independence at a time when women didn’t have many options was truly impressive. And it’s that commitment that reigns them the title of largest global network on earth (on earth people!). Beauty has helped Avon empower more than 6 million women globally, which is how large their network of representatives is!
Something I always wanted to do while working for Avon was visit their Research and Development facilities in Suffern, NY. Earlier this month, Avon made it happen when they invited select beauty bloggers and editor on a field trip to share the brands latest launches and campaign. This facility is wear the concepts, testing and color libraries live and is a complete makeup wonderland and candy shop for any beauty lover.
During our visit they introduced us to their latest endeavor, Beauty for a Purpose. With over 125 years of helping women gain financial independence by providing meaningful opportunities they believe that empowered women bring more beauty to the world. Beauty for a Purpose is a continuation of this legacy, made modern for today. With that they have launched a new site, BeautyforaPurpose.com, that brings together two topics rooted in their DNA – women’s empowerment and beauty. The site features inspiring messages and content like this video which is amazing with Father’s Day around the corner:
It’s funny, when I first started my site It was between PrettyConnected.com and VanityandCharity.com since beauty and giving back have always been two topics of importance to me. As some of you know I do a lot of volunteer work and started Share Your Beauty, the largest beauty product donation program in the countr. I absolutely love what Avon is doing and encourage you to get involved and share your inspirational messages, on your social media using the hashtag #BeautyforaPurpose.
They have all kinds of great saying on their site like “An empowered women is a beautiful woman”, and “Beauty is the journey, empowerment is the destination.” My message is, “Beauty starts from within, learn to love yourself first.” You have to be proud of the person you are or make a change. It doesn’t matter how you look on the outside if the inside is suffering.
Get empowered and share your message. Learn more at BeautyforaPurpose.com
