Happy 20th Birthday to NARS Cosmetics! Launched in 1994, NARS Cosmetics started as a collection of 12 iconic lipsticks housed in unique soft0touch packaging which was ahead of its time. Now, just 20 years later, NARS Cosmetics has become a powerhouse with a range of over 600 products, many we all can’t leave the house without!
Some of you may not be aware but since 1996 François has personally photographed all NARS campaigns (minus the ones they commissioned from the Guy Bourdin collection)! By doing so, his signature style has pushed the boundaries of the industry’s traditional definition of beauty — collaborating with many of the world’s most unique and iconic women in order to bring his singular vision for the brand to life.
Having gotten my start in this industry working in NARS’ international division being able to celebrate this milestone with Francois Nars and the team was a huge honor. Hosted during New York fashion week by Francois himself, Linda Evangelista and Fabien Baron it showcased an exhibit of his many ad campaigns.
François Nars’ has empowered women to explore their personalities through the use of color and texture, and this philosophy has led to countless product innovations including one of our favorites, Orgasm, a peachy-pink shade with a hint of golden shimmer, that started as a blush and has taken a life of its own with a complete line up of products, as well as The Multiple, a multi-purpose color stick for eyes, cheeks and lip. These two iconic products alone are a must have in every beauty wardrobe!
