Mom’s Skincare Picks for Mature Skin

Lara and mom mother's day

Happy Mother’s Day everyone! I have a newfound tradition of every year on this day highlighting my mom’s favorite products. As we age our skin looses it’s elasticity, which can cause it to sag, wrinkles form and we lose a lot of moisture that can cause skin to look dull and dry. Wearing a daily SPF and taking care of your skin can help slow down the aging process but having good products in tow! When it comes to skincare my mom does not mess around. I bring home name brands and expensive skincare products by the bag full and she could care less about any of that, only the best make her vanity and this year here’s what made her list:

Origins Plantscripion Collection

Origins plantscription review

I love Origins Plantscription Youth-Renewing Face Oil. It kept my skin silky soft especially during these hard winter months.  It absorbs and delivers with hydration and reduced lines with no greasy residue. And it lasts, if I use it at night I still feel the effects the next morning. It even makes my dry skin feel and look youthful and radiant. I originally was using it with the matching night cream, which while the experience was nice, (it’s non-greasy and has a nice texture), it didn’t do enough for my dry skin. I traded the night cream for the Plantscription Anti-Agin Serum and they work wonders together. (You put the oil on first then the serum). I’m also a fan of the Cleanser from the collection. This is a great collection for anyone with mature, dry skin.

Dermalogica Precleanse and Daily Microfoliant

Dermalogica precleanse

Dermalogica Precleanse, is a lightweight delicate cleansing oil (wonderful combination of olive and apricot) that gently liquefies debris from the skin’s surface without leaving behind any greasy residue.  I prefer to use it as an eye makeup remover because it is so gentle and it pretty much melts even waterproof or stubborn makeup away.  I pair it with Daily Microfoliant, a great exfoliant that helps eliminate the dead skin yet gentle enough to use daily.

Shake a little of the powder into your hand and mix it with a small amount of water so that it forms a light paste. Then you massage in small circles over your face for a minute. It really buffs the skin without making it dry, and coupled with the precleanse, it make your skin silky smooth with a glow that lasts.

Environ Ionzyme C-Quence Crème and Eye Gel

Environ

This facial serum hydrates and moisturizes skin.  It quickly dissolves into the skin without feeling any residue or greasiness.  It immediately improves the appearance of fine lines and leaves skin smooth.  I pair it with the eye gel, that also improves fine lines. This light textured and odorless gel cools and soothes.  Works great on tired, puffy eyes.

Kiehl’s Aromatic Blends Collection in Fig Leaf & Sage and Nashi Blossom & Pink Grapefruit

kiehl's aromatic blends review

Two of my favorite scents from the Kiehl’s Aromatic Blends collection are the Fig Leaf and Sage and Nasi Blossom & Pink Grapefruit. I use the Nashi Blossom & Pink Grapefruit cleanser and the Fig Leaf and Sage body lotion, although I’ve also stayed consistent and used the same scent for both the cleanser and lotion (it’s really based on my preference and mood).

Nashi Blossom & Pink Grapefruit Liquid Body Cleanser – This body cleanser smells so wonderfully clean – the scent has a natural refreshing simplicity with a very appealing grapefruit note moderately mixed with some light florals.  Makes for a great summer fragrance that lingers long after a shower.

Fig Leaf & Sage Hand & Body Lotion – The scent is delightfully earthy – sweet (not too), crisp, fresh, and never heavy. There is something subtle in the presence of the sage that makes this fig unique. The lotion makes my skin smooth but not greasy.

Of course I still relay on a lot of my go-tos from last year, read my list from last year. Read the complete list HERE!
