Well Jackie Collins fans, we have a lot to be excited about! For starters, she has a new book out, CONFESSIONS OF A WILD CHILD, which launched earlier this month, and it’s about our favorite character, Lucky Santengelo! And get this… the book has a movie deal! I’ve known Jackie for years and in every interview I always ask when her books are hitting the big screen — well dozens of novels later, we have our answer!
“I am thrilled to be bringing Lucky Santangelo to the big screen. She’s a kick ass female and we need more of those!” says Collins.
If you have no idea what I’m talking about let me sum it up for you. Every year Jackie debuts a new book which surrounds the Santangelo family (or members of their community). And we’re all obsessed with being Lucky, she’s a total bad ass – she’s killed people, she’s had kids — she’s done it all. In this latest book, it’s a prequel to the Santangelo series, so we’re going back to the beginning! Or rather to her teenage years, to a 15 year old Lucky Santangelo who is eager to taste the world of boys, sex, drugs and rock-n-roll. She’s also the daughter of a notorious mobster who’s kept her under total lock down at their Bel Air mansion since she discovered her mother murdered in the family swimming pool when she was four. But now she’s broken free and the rest is… to be discovered!
“I originally intended CONFESSIONS OF A WILD CHILD to be a young adult book—so it’s toned down in comparison to my other books. But, don’t worry, you’ll find that with Lucky at the helm, there is trouble around every corner.”
As for the movie, Jackie Collins and her Chances Inc., shingle has teamed with Amber Entertainment to produce the adaptation of the book. Collins will adapt the novel and produce alongside Ileen Maisel of Amber Entertainment who recently released “Romeo and Juliet” that starred Hailee Steinfeld, Ed Westwick and Damien Lewis.
The pair will be launching a world-wide search for an actress to play the young Lucky Santangelo, and will be creating a website so young actresses can submit their auditions.
In addition to the release of “Confessions of a Wild Child,” and the big movie news, her next book, “The Lucky Santangelo Cookbook” will be released by St. Martin’s Press on April 8, 2014.
