I’m always up for a crafts night! And my friend Arykah recently came over with the ladies so we could make decorations for our friends “festive country-theme” party. What’s more country then mason jars, and what’s more holiday then silver, gold and glitter! So with their powers combined we bring you our festive metallic jars (as pictured above). Here’s how make them at home:
First, the supplies.
- Mason jars or any glass container
- Option 1: Acrylic spray paint
- Option 2: Glitter, Elmer’s Glue and a sponge brush
- Dried flowers or your choice of garnish (Note: fresh flowers won’t work as they require water which dissolves the spray paint)
Step 1: Option 1 – Acrylic Spray Paint
Literally just spray the acrylic spray paint on the inside of the jar (it’s that easy!)
Step 1: Option 2 – Glitter
Start by coating the inside of the jar with a thin layer of glue. Then with a sponge brush evenly distribute it around the jar until the inside is completely covered. Then immediately dump in the glitter and rolled it around until the jar is completely covered on the inside.
For both Option 1 and 2, allow 24 hours for the paint/glitter to dry and then add the dried flowers (or the garnish of your choice) . To make it even more festive add a ribbon around the top of the jar.
The other “Do It Yourself” (DIY) activity we enjoy doing on our girls nights is mixing drinks! We keep it fun and casual and stick to drinks and crafts as our only plan of the night — the prep-work is in getting all the supplies in advance so by the time everyone comes over, we can throw on some some music and have some fun.
We have been known to get crazy with tequila so we were on a hunt for the Sauza Sparkling Margarita. Doesn’t that sound good? Margaritas in bubbly form!
