Winter months in New York City always leave my skin crying for nourishment—between the inside dry heat and outside bitter cold its hard to keep my skin pleased. Since the launch of The Body Shop’s Honeymania collection in September, I’ve been delightfully using the products and while I’ve enjoyed them all (I’m a sucker for the scent — plus honey is all the rage right now), I am not sure I would make it through the winter without the body butter. After each long day before bed I look forward to applying this rich lotion to my hands, feet, and elbows. It has a nice buttery texture that when the right amount is applied doesn’t leave skin oily and leaves a lovely lingering (not too) floral scent.
As if my happy skin wasn’t enough to make me love this product I was even more pleased with it when I found out it is made with Community Fair Trade honey from Ethiopia. The Body Shop works with the highly skilled Beza Mar Beekeepers who practice ‘barefoot beekeeping’ or ‘bee whispering’, working in harmony with the bees’ natural cycles using traditional techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation! The methods used support sustainable use of the Sheka rainforest (a biodiversity hot spot protected by the UNESCO) while bringing first-class honey to the products it enriches. They Body Shop is proud to say that; “To make enough honey for every Honeymania collection it takes almost 100 bees traveling over 1.300 miles so they can harvest the nectar from nearly 50,000 flowers.”
