Master Class with Alex Box (Plus What’s NEW at Illamasqua!)

Illamasqua Alex Box

If you ever have the opportunity to watch Illamasqua’s Creative Director, Alex Box do makeup — take it! On Friday night, I joined Illamasqua at their new home at Bloomingdales SoHo for an interactive masterclass hosted by Alex Box using the brands new The Sacred Hour collection. With an avant gard playlist in the background (if your eyes were shut you may have thought you were at a burlesque show), she completely transformed this model into art. What started with luminous skin quickly turned into a light spray paint metallic rose effect across the model’s face. And then for the grand finale, she starts slabbing on thick lines of blue and green face paint and tops the model off with a black wig and voila! It was amazing, the crowd went wild. It was completely unexpected and original. Watch the video clip HERE: Alex Box at Bloomingdale’s Soho

In the audience was also brand Founder Julian Kynaston and Director Product Development David Horne, who introduced us to the brands new Hydra Veil product. I’m not sure if it counts more as skincare or a primer, but it’s this incredibly gel you put on as a base before your make-up and offers intense hydration to the skin. The formula itself turns like crumpled jello when mixed up and then calms into a smooth surface in no time. I can’t wait to get my hands on one!
