Vivienne Tam Partners with WeChat for YOUR Chance to Walk the Runway at NYFW

ATTENTION all fashionista’s! Vivienne Tam is partnering with the messaging app, WeChat to find fashion’s next rising star! One lucky “It” girl will  be flown to NYC in September to walk the runway at Vivienne Tam’s Spring Fashion Show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week!

This is the first open model contest Vivienne Tam has ever hosted, and she has partnered with WeChat to find a confident, passionate and creative woman to showcase a look from her upcoming collection, and to give an aspiring young model, the opportunity to participate in New York fashion week.

“WeChat with its all-inclusive platform, allows me to connect globally with my fans to discover new faces and talent who will have an unique opportunity to become fashion’s next supermodel,” said Vivienne Tam. “I am excited to find talent who embodies the true international spirit to star in one of the biggest fashion events of the year.”

Open to contestants across the globe, aspiring fashionistas simply submit their information using the WeChat app or contest site http://www.wechatapp.io/vivienne-tam-model-contest and Vivienne Tam will select her top choices from all the entries. She will then turn the contest over to her WeChat community who will vote to select the final runway winner. (The runner-up will also receive one free pass to attend the exclusive NYC Fashion Week show.)

To participate in the contest, simply:

  1. Download the free WeChat app on any smartphone
  2. Open the app and search “VTAMFASHION” to follow Vivienne Tam
  3. Tap “Messages” then the “Contest” tab to submit a short questionnaire with two photos or visit: http://www.wechatapp.io/vivienne-tam-model-contest

The contest is open internationally to females who are 18+ years old. Applications will be accepted until July 25, at 11:59 PM ET. Vivienne Tam Launches Fashion Yoga Collection

While designers debuted their spring 2012 ready-to-wear collections during New York Fashion Week, Vivienne Tam decided to take the opportunity to present her new Fashion Yoga Collection. Utilizing the outdoor space of Barclay’s Capital Grove within Lincoln Center she strayed from the usual models standing around, while the press takes their picture and went with a more interactive route. Lead by yoga experts, Rodney Yee, they created a living and breathing fashion yoga installation. During the presentation, 20 female yogis, dressed head to toe in Tam’s new line performed a choreographed yoga session, lead by Lee.

Are You Ready for New York Fashion Week?

Ready-To-Bare it ALL: Backstage at Vivienne Tam Spring 2010 Collection

On Saturday, September 12th, Gina Brooke, Artistic Director of Shu Uemura, was kind enough to extend an invitation to go backstage and preview the look for Vivienne Tam’s Spring 2010 runway collection.  Considering this was the last year fashion week would be held at Bryant Park (sniff, sniff), I was anxious to get to the tents.

The inspiration for the show was nature.  Gina Brooks did an exceptional job embodying the theme and creating a clean, natural face with soft pink cheeks and dramatic lashes that appeared like butterfly wings (using the Shu Uemura Farfallina False Eyelashes on both the top and bottom lash line).

“Butterflies were seen everywhere in Vivienne’s collection which was inspired by freedom, life and the 1960’s,” said Brooke. “It was only natural to have these beautiful, wing-like lashes flank the models’ eyes to resemble one of earth’s most gorgeous creatures.”

IMG_0326Hair by Kevin Mancuso for Kevin Mancuso Salons.  Following suit, Kevin completed the look with middle parts, producing loose waves on these models flowing locks, creating a modern twist on a classic hippie do.

After my interview, I had a little time to kill until the show started.  Fortunately, I ran into a friend who invited me to the W Hotels VIP Backstage Lounge, sponsored by Veuve Clicquot.  I had me a drink (or two) while mingling with some of fashion’s finest.

Showtime! I filed into the crowd excited for Vivienne Tam’s collection and especially thrilled to see the premiere of her latest collaboration with HP for their digital clutch.  A beauty bloggers dream! So compact and stylish, I want it!  But like Vivienne Tam’s collection, this stunning piece of machinery is not expected to launch until Spring 2010.
