Happy 100th Birthday Keds

We’ve been celebrating Keds 100th year since the new year but today marks the official day that the iconic show brand and ahem the first brand to create a sneaker for women turns 100! Such a major milestone and I’m thrilled for them. Tomorrow, I’m headed to Miami for Swim and just putting on a fresh pair of classic Champion Canvas shoes makes me feel like I’m on vacation. Cheers to many more women’s sneakers Keds!

Keds are pretty freakin’ rad! Especially when you consider they are celebrating their centennial milestone, and 100 years of female empowerment as the first sneaker designed for women! Like the first EVER! So major.

Believing women should create their own unique path in the world, Keds is launching the Keds Custom Studio, a new digital design lab that lets you customize your Keds to create your own signature design.

The design tool lets you choose between their classic Crashback (slide-on) and Champion (lace-up) styles which you can then pick from a number of colors, patterns and finishes to customize everything from the heel, binding, trim, eyelets, shoe laces and beyond. My favorite feature is the monogram! I like everything more with my my initials on it.

Two summer staples: cut off jeans and Keds! After going through my millionth pair of canvas white Keds (I don’t think I’ve ever been without a pair since I was a teenager), this is the first season I’ve opted for a leather edition. And I love them! It’s the Ked’s Corsa Leather style ($50) in white and they are so comfortable and easy to style! I’ve also been on the hunt for the perfect boyfriend jeans in pants and short. So far these pair of Koral’s Los Angeles Boyfriend Shorts ($195) are the best I’ve found (still on the hunt for a pant style).  They are the ultimate in effortless (and versatile) summer fashion! Plus the messiness of the shorts helps compliment the I-have-no-time-to-deal-with-my-hair look, I will be regularly sporting in this heat wave.

What’s new at Keds!

Is it just me or do Keds get more and more colorful and fun with every season? For fall it’s a lot of their usual silhouettes complimented in mixed fabrications, patterns and textures giving them a fresh spin on some of our classic favorites (they also feature some really cool linings). Keds has also produced a great assortment of rain boots — or rather rain shoes and rain high tops worth keeping an eye out for. They’re just different enough and practical enough to adding another pair of rain shoes to the collection.

Keds + Madewell Partner for Exclusive Capsule Collection

How fun is this???? For spring, Keds and Madewell are joining forces on a limited edition capsule collection which includes 3 new prints to their classic canvas sneaker.

Welcome the new Keds for Madewell collection: Champion Colorblock Stripe, Champion Blanket and Champion Polka Dot (photographed above, in that order). Did you notice from the picture the Champion Blanket print has leather laces? Ah and how cute is the perfectly vintage polka dot print with the tan piping? Inspired by elements from the Madewell spring 12 collection, each print is so unique I WANT THEM ALL!

 All three styles will retail for $50 each and are available at select Madewell retailers, Madewell.com and Keds.com.

Keds Launches First Clothing Line Exclusive to Opening Ceremony

Keds recently launched their first ever clothing line, exclusive to Opening Ceremony. Launching with Resort 2012, the collection which has both mens and womens clothing is inspired by vintage Americana.

Paying a little tribute to my alma mater, Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT)… check out the FIT winners of the Keds competition. On July 21st, Lord and Taylor 5th Avenue, will be offering on-site Keds customization, cupcakes, live music and your chance to meet the winners and check out their designs.
