This season, I’ve been less about wearing one coat and more about layering. It’s getting cold in New York but all the stores and buildings are so overly heated that working in layers is easier than over heating. So I’ve been doing a light jacket with my Nike Down Cape over everything (they also have a version with sleeves). Bombers have been a big trend, and while I’m not normally a trend girl, somewhere around purchasing my fourth bomber jacket I realized I’m drinking the Kool-Aid pretty hard. My favorite though is this silk bomber jacket and pants from Yummie by Heather Thomson. It’s nice and long and looks really cute as the whole set, and with my new High Top Sneakers from FitFlop. This is my second pair of shoes from FitFlop and they have changed my life. I’ve been looking for a cool shoe brand with an orthopedic sole and these offer so much support and are so comfortable.

Just do it…
The start of a new year is always a time of reflection for me. I’m more about making goals then resolutions, and looking for ways to better myself. I’ve been traveling so much I’ve fallen off my workout schedule, so now that I’m home I’m hoping to get back into a routine. And I’ve been making a cautious effort to be more active during the day.

Sparkling into 2017
I can’t believe the year is almost done! 2016 has been a blast. Every year I like to take a day and go through every Instagram and blog post and take a moment to appreciate all the amazing memories I’ve had and shared. I’ve had so many incredible features over the years but being in Real Simple and People StyleWatch were big moments for me! I’ve also added to my sizable list of makeup heroes spending time with the founders of so many top brands ahem Kat Von D, Laura Geller, ColourPop, Ole Henrickson, Charlotte Tilbury… and their celebrity endorsers — Kerry Washington, Courtney Love and Lionel Richie are probably at the top of that list. And so much travel!!!! Plus my Urban Decay campaign I’m still dying over. Okay, I’ll stop and save the reminiscing for my next post, where I put my highlights down in one post. It’s something I recommend for everyone. Document your moments so each year you can look back at all you’ve accomplished. Be proud of yourself, even in tough times because when you come out the other end those were the moments that made you grateful for what comes next.. and you know that the best is yet to come! You just have to belive. See you next year… cheers!

Happy holidays everyone! It’s been so nice taking a break from the internet and not seeing an explosion of emails in my inbox. Before I left for Boston, I met with this really cute, new brand Ane Amour. They have a bunch of really fun party dresses, but I fell in love with these black and red shorts! They’re so festive and I’ve always loved a good shorts and tights look. The key is really strong tights that suck you in, like this pair from Yummie by Heather Thomson. I love mixing patterns and textures and between the suede Sam Edelman suede pumps, smooth bag from Coach, brocade Ane Amour shorts and my fuzzy fingerless gloves from Jocelyn, I was all up in this look.
Blonde Hair + Miu Miu Glasses
It’s been a lot of change recently. Between going blonde and finding out I’m nearsighted — which I have LensCrafters to thanks for! It’s been a really fun week of playing dress up. If you missed my post on my eye process, check it out HERE. They made the whole process digital so all you do is look in a machine and then the Ophthalmologist shows you a scan of your eye and tells you things like you’re nearsighted! In all honesty, I’m getting a little carried away. I don’t have to wear them fro walks, they are mostly for reading and my endless hours in front of the computer writing. Something I’m actually trying to cut down on a bit.
Outfit Details:
Miu Miu glasses c/o LensCrafters
Wool Turtleneck Sweater c/o Lafayette 148
Austin Corduroy Skirt c/o White Crow
Kyboe! Stainless Steel Chronograph Watch
Soho Backpack c/o Henri Bendel
Stuart Weitzman 50/50 Over-the-Knee Boots
Nail polish c/o Maxus in shade Respected
It’s been a lot recently so I’m embracing fall and planning some trips. I’m more creative when I get away and am heading to Lisbon on Monday! NYC will always have my heart, but it’s been a lot of running around recently. Fall is one of my favorite seasons though. Leaves in the air, autumn colors… I love this Corduroy Skirt skirt I got during fashion week and my Henri Bendel Soho Backpack. I feel like I’m back in the 90’s getting ready for school. A black turtleneck is a staple but I’ve been having trouble replacing a Marni one I had for 6+ years (it needed to be retired last year) and had some luck with this Lafayette 148 Wool Turtleneck Sweater. I’m working on building my fall staples. I’ve also been wearing my Kyboe! watch non-stop. I just booked my flight to Miami for Art Basel which is where I discovered the brand; now every time I wear it I think of warmer days to come. Lastly Maxus came out with the perfect fall wine nail polish shade as part of their Empower Collection, it’s called Respected and it has a gel like finish.
Happy fall everyone! xoLara
Liz Claiborne Celebrates 40 Years!
Growing up one of my mom’s best friends had an original sketch by Liz Claiborne framed in her hallway, which I would always admire. She’s the designer that introduced me to the Hounds Tooth print and this month Liz Claiborne celebrates 40 years!
To celebrate JCPenney has launched the “40 Looks of Liz Claiborne” Anniversary Collection for fall paying homage to the legacy of the iconic brand that has always stood for “effortless utility for busy, working woman.” Exclusively at all JCPenney locations and jcp.com, it’s a versatile collection with great layering pieces and separates that range from sporty from sporty to office attire.
Velvet is the new Black
Last month, I had a pair of midnight (ahem, “galaxy blue“), velvet pants ordered for an event my friend Natalie Zfat was hosting at Lafayette 148 at their new store opening in soho. At the time I thought was I really losing it wanting velvet pants? And then somehow in the past two weeks I’ve seen non-stop articles — even from Vogue on how it’s the hot new fall trend. I’m so glad I chose them since literally from the moment I put them on yesterday, I had compliments at every show, sidewalk and restaurant I went to asking where they were from. Usually Lafayette 148 is my go to for great basics, but this season they have some really amazing statement pieces that I’ve been eyeing. The new store is beautiful, and had me eyeing these red patent leather flats (aren’t they gorgeous!?) and Infinity Cuff bracelet that may need to be my next splurge.
Outfit details:
Lafayette 148 Rivington Velvet Ankle Pant in Galaxy Blue
Bebe Diamond Mesh Inset Crop Top
Boohoo Oversized Shirt (similar different print)
Henri Bendel Uptown Blocked Satchel
Sam Edelman Hazel Pointed-Toe Suede Pumps
Ray-ban Tortoise Blue (exclusive to Sunglass Hut)
This outfit was perfect for the Lafayette 148 store launch party since yesterday was one of those full, morning to night New York Fashion Week days filled where I had no time to go home in between. This outfit took me from day to night (I had a black crop top under my long sleeve top and makeup to intensify the look in the evening). The black suede pumps and velvet pants really tied everything together and I love how the pants look almost navy or black in dark lighting and then in the sun really lighten up. They are also available in black and I’m hoping they’ll make them in their signature cabernet color as well. I would be totally down for some burgundy velvet pants! I’m clearly having a 90s moment. And props to my Henri Bendel Uptown Blocked Satchel bag for being able to hold my life in it. I had two books, my camera, 2 gift bags in addition to my phone charger, wallet, makeup case… the usual necessities in it.

Chic Essentials
It’s amazing how trends come and go but a Little Black Dress remains a timeless staple. I’m on the road a lot so versatility is key for me. I love a dress I can refresh to go from day to night – like this one from Pure Navy I found on Gilt.
Wear it open during the day like a vest jacket or all buttoned up for after work drinks. With the right accessories and makeup I can transform any look to get more wear out of my clothes.
Gilt is partnering with Dole Dippers, the LBD of sweet treats to elevate the everyday with decadence and by curating a collection of drool worthy designer Little Black Dresses at a fraction of their retail price. Both are gilt-free indulgences whether you’re shopping the collection or biting into any of the three chocolate covered flavors of Dole Dippers: Strawberry, Pineapple or Banana.
I have confessed more then a few times on the blog that my guilty pleasure (slash terrible habit) is late night snacking. And my favorite dessert is chocolate covered strawberries so the ease of Dole Dippers Dark Chocolate Covered Real Strawberry Halves in my fridge is kind of the best ever – which is only enhanced by the fact that they are only 60 calories a bag! Made with real frozen fruit and 67% cocoa dark chocolate, day or night, and especially in this heat wave, it’s the perfect way to satisfy those chocolate cravings. Just be sure to give them about 3-5 minutes out of the fridge to thaw – although sometimes I can’t wait and take the tooth freeze.
Gilt is also hosting a Chic Essentials Sweepstakes where you can enter for your chance to win a style upgrade which includes a $500 Gilt gift card and a Gilt shopping consultation.
Always traveling may seem glamorous when I’m snapchatting beautiful hotel rooms and new scenery but in actuality not having access to your everyday closet and having to plan so much ahead as to what you want to wear can be a challenge. Which is why versatile fashion items and accessories are makeup play such a key role. If you pop open my makeup bag my chic essentials include:
The new Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation stick which is probably the most perfect foundation I’ve ever used. It’s a creamy texture that offers full coverage, easy to blend and makes your skin look flawless. Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage and Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed are staples. The Secret Camouflage takes any tired eyes away and the Skin Perfector is the finishing touch that by the time I’m on this step my skin looks flawless and illuminated. Dior Show Mascara and Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner I’ve been using forever. I love a big comb mascara to volumize and fill out my lashes and the Stila Liquid Liner is so easy to apply and doesn’t move. My latest discovery is Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat (lipliner) in shade Bad Romance, is the perfect wine to match Tom Ford’s limited edition Black Orchid Lip Color, which is a definite splurge, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel like a million bucks every time I put it on.
Thank you to Dole and Gilt for partnering with me on this post!
JCPenney x WWE Tapout Event with Dolph Ziggler + Charlotte
What a whirlwind of a week! As some of you know I took a break from my New England tour yesterday to head back to NYC for 16 hours to join my friends at WWE and JCPenney at the Manhattan Mall for the launch of the WWE’s Tapout performance apparel line for women. Hosted by WWE Superstars and Tapout Brand Ambassadors Dolph Ziggler and Charlotte at the Manhattan Mall, there was a line wrapped around the basement level and up through the escalator and around the first floor for the #Summerslam event!
The Tapout brand stands for motivation, discipline and determination – all of which you saw from the crowd waiting patiently in line to meet Dolph and Charlotte. Before they opened the event to the pubic I had a few moments with the duo — just enough time to ask Charlotte her must have beauty product – “Flower Gel by Sisley” and her best de-stress tip, “Sleep”. Two things I heavily endorse. Followed by a photo opp with them!
Dolph is wearing the Tapout Warrior Graphic Tee ($22, on sale $12.99), I’m wearing the Tapout Power Button Knot Tank ($22, on sale $16.99), and Charlotte is in the Tapout Graphic Tank Top ($22, on sale for $16.99).
The range includes training and compression tees, sports bras, tank tops, pants and shorts that are all affordably priced from $12.99 – $29.99. The women’s collection joins the existing men’s line, which also features training and compression tees, tanks, shorts and pants and ranges in price from $12.99 – $32.99.

Thank you to WWE Tapout and JCPenney for partnering with me on this post!
Stay Here: Newport Marriott
Today was awesome, I took over the Newport Marriott’s Instagram channel to share my travel diaries. Newport is honestly one of my favorite places and is just so magical. Visiting the mansions, doing the cliff walk and dining and walking around downtown should be on everyone’s list. Check out my complete guide on where to go HERE. For this trip I wanted to share more on the Newport Marriott since this was my first time staying there — and in the Presidential Suite no less.

Splendid Temescal Cardigan (on sale!)

Teva Flatform Universal (on sale!)
As some of you know they had a redesign last year and the result is stunning. (You can read more about the update on their blog). So much natural light and it’s so open and calming. The above photo is the view looking down from the fourth floor. The nautical theme is seen throughout — I like to think I dressed the part to match for my Instagram takeover. The view from our room was of the bay, sail boats in front and the downtown to our left. What more can you ask? A swimming pool and top notch fitness center? Yeah, they’ve got that too.
As you can imagine the Presidential Suite was epic, TV’s in both rooms, and 1.5 bathrooms, kitchen, dining room table and lounge area. I would happily trade my NYC apt for it.
