Remembering 9/11

September 11th isn’t a subject I’ve ever felt comfortable talking about. I was a freshman in college and had just moved to the city only two weeks prior when the towers went down. Even when asked about my experience I’m quick to brush it off. I guess to this day I have such a difficulty digesting the ordeal and as human beings what we’re capable of doing to each other or how warped our perception of right and justice can be, especially at the expense of so many innocent people. It wasn’t until today that I realized I can officially say I’ve lived in New York for over 10years — although somehow using the publishing years of the anniversary of 9/11 as my marker saddens me.

This morning I woke up, ignored the news and any threats or scares that may come and hustled to the Empire Hotel to get straight to work on the events I’m producing for fashion week. As I got off the subway, I passed through Lincoln Center when suddenly I was taken aback by an army of performers dressed in white

Fashion Week Eats: Collagen soup anyone?

When I hear the word collagen a picture comes to mind of overly puffed lips and The Real Housewives of New Jersey. This is not the case for chef Takashi Inoue of Takashi and beauty expert Hinako Israel. Inspired by the fact that “we are what we eat” these two have teamed up to create a “beauty from within” menu for fashion week that works to nourish the skin and boost the immune system by eating items that include collagen.

Delicacies include flash boiled achilles and ox foot. This menu is not for the faint of heart, but might be for those working toward a healthy heart, beautiful skin, and a strong body.

Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus All-Smooth Makeup SPF 15

As the #1 prestige foundation brand in the world and innovator of integrating technology into their foundations to address skincare concerns, it’s no wonder Clinique has taken this 360 approach to anti-aging.  Especially since anti-aging is currently the leading growth category in skincare. Repairwear Laser Focus All-Smooth Makeup SPF 15 helps improve skin’s texture both immediately and over time, and works to prevent future damage. The long-lasting, lightweight, moisturizing formula, which is oil-free and non-acnegenic, offers medium coverage with a smooth application yielding a picture perfect, flawless finish, which we put to the test!

I joined Clinique’s newly appointed Global Colour Artist, Jenna Menard for a makeover. It’s obvious from her book of endless editorial covers and celebrity features, Menard has a divine talent and ability to create incredibly stunning
