This $20 SUSTAINABILITY IS SEXY Tee Makes a Difference

I partnered with Custom Ink, which is an amazing site that lets you design t-shirts and apparel and host a fundraiser to donate all of the proceeds to the charity of your choice. With their help I created this “SUSTAINABILITY IS SEXY” Tee. It’s $20 and I set all of the proceeds to go to Family-to-Family, a grassroots nonprofit 501(c)(3) hunger and poverty relief organization dedicated to providing food, personal hygiene products, kids literacy programs and other basic life essentials to American families struggling with the challenges of poverty.

Custom Ink is an easy website/tool to help raise funds and awareness for a cause, and get your message out. My Message: SUSTAINABILITY IS SEXY. My shirt is available in bunch of different styles, I’m wearing the unisex mens style on the site in a size XS, it’s super soft and American Apparel, but we have tanks and other styles available as well.

When I wear my shirt, I’m talking to my friends, but I’m screaming it to brands who everyday send me products buried in so much packaging that is trash. I can’t tell you how sad it makes me when garbage day comes and my trash bins are overflowing with wrappings from these packages. I get it, I’m blessed to receive so many mailers and I appreciate it but somewhere in my 10-years of blogging sending an absurd amount of landfill became trendy and it needs to stop. Listen, every blogger loves a present, bribe me with a gift, I won’t say no, but trash doesn’t count. If I can’t reuse it, I don’t want it. It’s not my personality to publicly shame brands so I’ll avoid naming names but a lot of you brands and PR agencies need to wake up because more and more editors, influencers and industry pros are speaking out, and I don’t know anyone that appreciates it. I would also like to shout out Beach House PR for their announcement that they will only be doing 100% recycled, eco-friendly mailers and boxes voice of excess packaging. Thank you for caring.

La Prairie Skin Caviar Essence In Foundation

The La Prairie foundation dynasty continues with the launch of their latest Skin Caviar Essence-In-Foundation SPF 25 cushion foundation. This is the first compact foundation infused with Caviar Water offering complexion benefits while you conceal. La Prairie is known for their caviar science and skin benefits, marrying the two with their foundation is something we saw with their original Skin Caviar Concealer + Foundation SPF 15 — a product I still use. You pop the cap for the concealer and twist the bottle for the foundation, it’s an amazing two in one.

The new Skin Caviar Essence-In-Foundation SPF 25 cushion is a win in formula but I’m not a fan of the packaging. Yes, it’s luxurious but for being marketed for travel I find it overly bulky.  The mirrored edge is wider than it needs to be and I somehow get makeup all over it so I’m wiping it down in between uses. Granted if you don’t travel a lot and just use it in your bathroom in the AM’s it will keep. I’m just always on the go — you can even see from the original foundation that I weather my products living from suitcase to suitcase. I do appreciate that it’s refillable though so you keep the base and pop in a replacement cushion when it’s used up.  The formula is great, it’s buildable for a light to medium coverage and I love that it’s infused with Caviar Water and has an SPF 25. I apply with a Beautyblender and then buff with the compact provided if I’m feeling fancy. It’s great for discoloration and evening out your skintone. I do prefer the original foundation for my wrinkles but the two products work well in tandem.

Saved by the Bell Pop-Up in LA

When in Bayside… Stop by The Max and put your feet up on Mr. Belding’s desk. For any fellow Saved by the Bell fans (Zack Morris forever!), you can join in my excitement to spend a night at The Max; the infamous hang spot of Zack, Slater, Jessie, Lisa and Screech. The now Los Angeles pop-up restaurant — yes, you heard right, the diner is open for dinner. While tickets are needed way in advance the $40 admission includes an appetizer and main entree by Michelin Star Chef Brian Fisher of Entente at the helm (you can see the menu HERE). Drinks and dessert are available for an additional charge. If you’re in LA, this is a must see!

Dressed in our best 90s we scrounged up hours before walking in, we had a blast. It’s a small pop-up but for the price was well worth the photo opps in the diner, at Dr. Belding’s desk and the lockers. I was expecting it to be larger but for the small space and the focus being The Max it was impressive. Props including Zack’s iconic oversized cell phone, Kelly’s cheerleading pom poms, crutches were also on hand. The free vintage video games in the corner were also a nice touch. James was entertained for hours.
