The Sartorialist Partner’s with Kiehl’s for Father’s Day

Scott Schuman "The Sartorialist", Lara Eurdolian

The Sartorialist is one of my favorite fashion blogs. I mean how could it not be? Scott Schuman (aka ‘The Sartorialist’) is not only an amazing photographer, but basically pioneered the broadcasting of street fashion and turned photoblogging into art form.

For Father’s Day, he’s partnered with  skincare brand, Kiehl’s Since 1851 to shoot their Father’s Day campaign showcasing a series of images honoring the relationship between dad’s and their children. Scott also collaborated with the brand to create The Sartorialist for Kiehl’s Limited Edition Dopp Kit for Men ($55.50). The set features Scott’s must-haves from Kiehl’s and travel essentials and includes their Facial Fuel Energizing Face Wash (2.5oz), Facial Fuel Energizing Moisture Treatment (2.5oz), Facial Fuel No-Shine Lip Balm (0.17oz), Ultimate Brushless Shave Cream White Eagle (2.5oz) and “Ultimate Man” Scrub Soap (3.2 oz ), packaged in a chic, functional travel case  (created by Italian fashion House Luca Roda!).

The Sartorialist for Kiehl’s Dopp Kit for Men

Recently, having the opportunity to meet with Scott, I had a few questions…

Tell me about the The Sartorialist for Kiehl’s Limited Edition Dopp Kit for Men and how you picked the products.

I felt very comfortable with Kiehl’s because it was a product I already used, so I knew what I wanted. It’s all based on how you travel. I designed the kit and I was asking Garance [Dore] to draw it out for me so of course she had her own design input. I hate when you just throw everything in a bag and you can’t find anything –like a women’s purse, so I put a lot of pockets in it so you could put things away. I like to put my cuflinks in them.

What was the part about working with Kiehl’s?

They kept sending me free products! That, and being able to celebrate dad’s and shoot that story. I was a stay-at-home dad for two years and I met a lot of dad’s that have a really great relationship with their kids and I really wanted to celebrate that.

What was the creative process for this campaign?

We did a casting and picked a certain amount dad’s, and then went to the park [Bleeker Street Park] that I go to with my kids all the time and I said ‘okay guys, just play. Don’t worry about me, don’t worry about the photographs. I’ll make you look good, you just have fun with your kids’.

What makes you smile?

My girlfriend Garance Dore and my little kids.

Now who’s taking pictures of who Scott?

Mrs. Seinfeld Host Baby Buggy Bedtime Bash

Jessica Seinfeld

It was raining mommies and kids at the Baby Buggy Bedtime Bash hosted (and founded) by Jessica Seinfeld at the Victorian Gardens in Central Park. The space, which many know as the Wollman ice-skating rink in the winter, is transformed during these warm months into a kids amusement part; and was the perfect place to celebrate Baby Buggy’s 10th anniversary.

For those of you not familiar Baby Buggy, it’s a non-profit it works to provide families in need with essential equipment, clothing, products, and educational tools and services for their children. So if you’re looking for ways to downsize the excess possessions your kids have outgrown, definitely check them out, it’s such a great organization.

Tiffani Thiessen and daughter Harper

Celebrities (and their kids) got on board for the family-fun party filled with carnival rides, arts and crafts, fake tattoos and my personal favorite, jumbo go-fishing! Remember that game with the magnet and the plastic fish and you’d race to see who could get the most? It was like that only the fish were jumbo and were floating in a kiddie pool.

Kyle MacLachlan and son Callum
Elton!!!

Aveeno was supporting the event and invited me to come hang out (part of the perks of being an Aveeno Ambassador!).  I’m not going to lie, the scene definitely felt like the set of a Mother’s Day photo shoot for Social Life Magazine. The highlight for me was seeing Jeremy Sisto (aka Elton from the movie Clueless) with his daughter and just fighting the urge to yell ‘Elton’, the whole time. When did he grow up? He’s supposed to still be in High School! Oh man, I must have watched Clueless 1000 times as a teenager, and seeing Elton all grown up and as a dad –I mean way to tarnish that totally scum-bag image. Pfff as-if!

I’m also pretty sure I saw Alison Brod running around in what I can only describe as pink Barbie heals. The shoes were amazing! I’d say I tried to take a picture of them but I don’t think the woman sat still the entire event —then again that’s probably why she’s such a PR rock star.

My first gray…

Today I went for a walk in the woods with my male-friend (we’re spending the long weekend in VA), when we noticed a tick on his leg. I have never seen a tick and needless to say ran back indoors to check myself.  So much for the getting back to wilderness. During a routine check through my hair I found something! But it was no tick… at the ripe age of 27, it’s my first gray hair!

One hair follicle down just few hundred to go before I can start reviewing hair color products! Oh joy, so much to look forward to.

Kiehl’s Celebrates their 160th Anniversary in True NYC Fashion

New York-based skin care brand, Kiehl’s Since 1851 celebrated their 160th Anniversary last week across the street from their iconic flagship location on 13th and 3rd Avenue. While the rain was pouring outside, the stars we’re shining bright inside. Guests included Pharrell Williams, Susan Sarandon, Kevin Jonas, Alan Cummings, Richie Rich, Ana Matronic and Babydaddy of the Scissor Sisters and Leigh Lezark and Geordon Nicol of The Misshapes.

My lovely date Erika (who’s wedding I just got back from in Acapulco!) and I got there on the later side and the party was bumping! We had ourselves a little dance party, but didn’t hold a candle to Richie Rich. He decided to get up on stage and do an impromptu performance to Prince’s Raspberry Beret for us (this could be the best video ever–only thing missing, glitter!).

Kevin Jonas took a second from his phone conversation to blew us a kiss…

Then we concluded our night on one of Kiehl’s iconic motorcycles, where I thought we were taking pictures in a photo booth –even better, a flip book photo booth! Erika and I look insane. I love it!

If you’re in NYC check out the Kiehl’s Flagship Store at 109 Third Avenue. As part of their heritage project, they’ve included a brand-new installation of an interactive 160th Anniversary Retrospective at the store.  Cheers to you Kiehl’s for 160 years of great skin care products!

Wella Professionals Launches Flagship Salon at Pipino 57 in NYC

Lara Eurdolian (me!), Rebecca Romijn

Model and actress, Rebecca Romijn and celebrity hairstylist Ric Pipino hosted the opening of Wella Professionals first North American flagship salon at Pipino 57 and the launch of Wella’s new product line in New York City.

I’ll be the first to admit that I didn’t know nearly enough about Ric Pipino when I received the invitation (aside from his Pipino salon in Nolita somewhere –which I’ve been meaning to try). The cool factor of the new salon alone and that it carries the Wella Professionals line (not to mention Ric Pipino’s celebrity clientele, runway work and unbeknownst to me he has a signature hair line, Revolution In Cut) has me so excited to go back and try both locations.

The grand opening attracted the likes of Bridget Moynahan, Kelly Rutherford (Gossip Girl), Leigh Lezark (from The Misshapes), Alison Brie (Mad Men), and Fern Mallis (the originator of New York Fashion Week!). And while everyone showed up looking fabulous –Kelly Rutherford is as effortlessly chic in person as she is on Gossip Girl (the photos don’t do her justice). And as much as I’m not into all that Hills/City stuff, I have to say Whitney Port is stunning, and the girl can dress! Meanwhile I got caught in the rain and my hair couldn’t have looked more tragic if I tried.

Fun fact! I caught up with Leigh Lazark at the event who shared that she became a fan of the Wella line when she was traveling in Ukraine and was coloring her own hair. Turns out she’s

My Motto in Life

The next person to ask me “how do I get your life”, i’m sending them this! It’s filled with both terrible and great advice and describes my impulsive ways and views on life to a tee. And for the record, ‘no you don’t’. I’m terribly behind on updating you on all the wonderful products I’ve tried, parties I’ve attended, and adventures I’ve been having. Although this weekend is going to be a write-fest!

It’s easy to read and agree with, but to actually put into practice and live by is a lot more challenging and in my case at the expense of stability. So my life is unpredictable. So what? Life’s an adventure. Do something that inspires you today!

Thank you Mariko for sending this to me!

Pretty Connected Featured on The Look on TPN

Behind the scenes with Maggie Rulli

A few weeks ago, The Look, a new show on The Pulse Network, asked to interview me for a fashion and beauty segment. Hosted by the fabulous Maggie Rulli, The Look, is all about helping women be their most fabulous self by going behind the scenes and interviewing experts in health, beauty/skincare and the fashion industry.

The first of my two segments just aired! So here’s me talking spring fashion trends!

So what’s spring all about? 70’s, 70’s, 70’s. From the maxi dresses to high wasted pants the 70’s are what’s hot for right now. Platform shoes, cork and wood wedges. Well what am I still writing about, watch the segment! It’s all in there.

NYC Welcomes Misha Nicole and APL

Laura & I playing with the jewelry at the Misha Nicole opening

Last night, while The Man Repeller was uptown styling the Bloomingdale’s 59th Street, Lexington Avenue windows and showcasing Tibi’s newest collection (I need to go check that out!), I was downtown for the launch of the Misha Nicole store and APL restaurant pre-opening bash.

Misha Nicole took over a large retail space on Bowery and houses a well curated assortment of unique fashion pieces and accessories. To celebrate the opening the store is hosting a series of events (visit their website to part-take), including art exhibitions, trunk shows and charitable initiatives. Last night, they featured the work of painter MD Tokon. I was somewhat distracted over the amazing assortment on the racks to give the art on the walls their proper attention –although their vibrant hues really lit up the room.

Inside Misha Nicole

I was all about the jewelry and these jackets! I know they don’t scream spring, but I’m in need of good basics.

I then headed over to APL, the new LES restaurant that hasn’t quite opened yet (bar opens tomorrow, full dinner menu begins on Tuesday), despite hosting a few teaser events.

Inside APL

I was curious to check this space out, after reading all that Camille Becerra drama and all this talk of suspended monkey bars. While that was kinda cool (although better left as a surprise, it wasn’t nearly as dramatic as I was imagining), I was all about the walls! They were all different colors and textured and lined with apples.

Monkey Bars!

The bar hosts a long vertical bar and space which then opens into the main dining room –which is where the skylight has the infamous hanging monkey-bars.

Cheers to you APL and the apple decor!

Not to get all Snooki on you, but I was all about the fried pickles.

Happy Cinco de Mayo

Greetings from Acapulco, Mexico and happy Cinco de Mayo!

Welcome to Acapulco

I’m so excited, my first Cinco de Mayo from Mexico. And what happens? An earthquake! And I slept through it. Go figure. Now where’s my margarita?

White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner

In the words of Seth Meyer’s (mere hours before the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner host would deliver these words in his speech), “its so amazing to be in DC, in all of this history, all these amazing buildings and yet here we are at the Hilton. The red carpet outside was amazing! ‘Who are you wearing’, ‘what does it matter, I’m going into a Hilton'”.

My sentiments almost exactly as I started getting ready for the WHCD pre-dinner reception. As I strapped on my long, black, Nicole Miller gown I needed about ten rounds of confirmation that I wasn’t overdressed. Both the dinner and all of the official pre-receptions were hosted at the Washington Hilton–I missed that on the invite. As you entered the hotel, the entry way is overhauled by photographers and press as you walk through the red carpet. Once you’ve passed the lobby, there are two floors of pre-dinner receptions hosted by various publications.

Dress: Nicole Miller

Amy and I headed to the 2nd floor for the CBS News/The Atlantic/NationalJournal pre-dinner reception. It was hosted in a tent on the terrace and it kind of felt like a wedding reception, except for the part where there are random celebrities walking around. That, and I’m not used to wearing a dress that falls below my knees.

My highlights included meeting Chelsea Handler who is hilarious, and getting silly with Vampire Diaries actors Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev who we’re so fun and seemed to be enjoying the photo-booth feature. And yes, they are very attractive.

Nina Dobrev, Lara Eurdolian (me!)

After the receptions, guests lucky enough to be invited to the official dinner filed downstairs while the rest of us watched from the lounge. It’s kind of amazing listening to Seth Meyers and Obama’s speeches knowing they are only mere floors below. Strangely enough several celebrities kept leaving the dinner to hit up the Bloomberg party –or some party that went through the lounge. The buzz of course being Sean Penn and Scarlett Johansson who power walked by twice, the first time holding hands, and the second with their arms around each other. I’ll it admit I was a little surprised to see the duo, but more so the amount of chatter in the room over it.

After the dinner, the lobby filled up with guests mingling and getting ready for the after parties. I took the opportunity to change and do a little mingling of my own…
