For me, I gave myself a style challenge to create a desert look inspired by the nature I was surrounded in for my trip to Joshua Tree for $100 or less! Getting my Bikini Bod on in Style Watch Magazine!

I’m so excited that my bathing suit shoot (words I never thought I’d say!) for Style Watch magazine is finally out! Some of you saw the sneak peek I posted a few months ago and know I worked extra hard on getting bikini shoot ready. I’ve always been terribly self-conscious about my bust size. I’m a legit 34D/32DD which translates into an XL top if I’m lucky — and my rib cage is too small to cross over into the plus size arena unless the suit is a string tie in which case I have hope but the fit is usually still off. This bikini from Jessica Simpson fits all my requirements and gives me shape without making me look like I’m trying out for Playboy or worse, falling out of my suit. I think I can even pass for a “C” cup to the untrained eye.

I’ve been in my fair share of photoshoots but this one was a personal challenge since it’s a whole other ballgame when the clothes come off! Style Watch is one of my favorite magazines and this shoot helped me persevere with my fitness and health resolutions for the new year. I actually feel really grateful for the opportunity since it gave me the motivation I needed to take care of myself. It’s very easy when you’re constantly busy and people are asking favors from you non-stop to prioritize everyone but yourself. This forced me to put me first. Many have asked how I did it and the short answer (I’ll do a more involved post soon!) is I quit drinking for 2 months, started cycling at Cyc fitness 2-3 times a week, took HUM Cleanse to the Rescue 21 Day Cleanse supplements and started my day eating a banana (prior to this I could not get in the habit of eating breakfast).

The Coachella 2016 Party Circuit

Coachella weekend 1 is always the hot ticket. It’s when all the brands are out and the parties are off the hook. So much in fact that we only made it to the music festival for one day! We were prepared for this going in, so we also picked up weekend 2 passes to Coachella so we could make weekend 1 all about the parties and plan on spending this weekend glued to the music festival. While we didn’t make it everything (we tried! we gave it a pretty solid effort! Here’s the party round up:

NEON CARNIVAL

For the past three years, James and I have loved going to Neon Carnival, the late night ‘it’ party of weekend 1 and famed outdoor dance party created by Brent Bolthouse. Hosted at an airplane hangar, the space is one big dance floor surrounded by amusement park rides, games and more. Drawing guests like Leonardo DiCaprio, Rihanna, Jared Leto, Scott Eastwood, Nina Dobrev, Aaron Paul, Alexander Skarsgard, Joe Jonas and so many more we had a blast! Hosted by The Levi’s® Brand, RE/DONE and Tequila Don Julio we went crazy on the rides, ferris wheel, bumper cars… it was a blast! Quick video above for the ferris wheel experience.

Calvin Klein #MyCalvins Desert Warehouse Party

Outside the venue there was a magic marker wall where guests could fill out “I ______ in #mycalvins”. They were also serving In-N-Out Burger which was pretty genius.

Hannah Bronfman DJ’ed the party and DSW hooked up the shoes! Guests were gifted indigo rd or Teva sandals and hosted a DIY station to personalize the shoes while Henri Bendel provided the cutest gift bags. POPSUGAR + SHOPSTYLE sure know how to make a girl feel chic poolside.

For the festival weekend Ben Sherman had a branded London Taxi driving festival goers around. James and I had a blast in the back of the cab, dressing up in our matching Ben Sherman hats and having our own personal dance party!

VESTAL VILLIAGE

Divided in two parts, Vestal Village is one part a glamping station where two of my blogger friends actually camped overlooking a serene lake and the other half is a raging pool party complete with music and venders selling everything from bathing suits to jewelry. The three day festival and camping grounds is a one stop party!

The Music Lounge #WHHSH Party

Guests enjoyed a highly curated Las Vegas experience coming to life in Palm Springs for one weekend only, featuring performances by G-Eazy and DNCE. Splat offered a hair coloring station — I was all about getting a spruce up and Batiste did a dry shampoo station braid bar. The hot award went to V-Moda for their total bombshell headphones and Related Garments for the cutest socks and undies combos I ever did see.

The dFm House

One party we always look forward to is The dFm house with the ONE Managment BBQ + pool party hosted by chefs Ari Taymor + Chris Kronner of KronnerBurger and The WEDIDIT + Niki Takesh pool party! Shuttled to a private location nestled in the mountains surrounding Palm Springs, we relaxed poolside, eating burgers and exploring the expansive and beautiful grounds.

The Retreat

Homemade ice cream by Salt & Straw, healthy catering and drinks for days (kombucha, Perrier, fresh juices and ones a bit stiffer). Then there’s the pampering which included a barbershop (where they actually offered hair cuts), braid bar by Glamsquad and makeovers by e.l.f. cosmetics. Facials and massages by Caudalie who gave Coachella goers a supercharged boost of hydration with their detoxifying + firming body treatments. I love everything Caudalie but if you haven’t tried their Grape Water and Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet, you’re missing out!

Amazon Style Code Live Soiree

For any of you unaware, Style Code Live is Amazon’s new live stream fashion and beauty show hosted by Lyndsey Rodrigues, Rachel Smith and Frankie Grande. I need no excuse to drink Moet and hang out with the Style Code crew, they are my favorites! We even shot a little style segment for the show while poolside that you’ll hopefully be seeing soon!

Alice + Olivia x Neiman Grateful Dead Music Festival Collection

It was a star studded front row at the alice + olivia x Grateful Dead runway show on Wednesday night. Hosted in partnership with Neiman Marcus, at the Neuehouse Hollywood in LA it was so fun to be out for the event! We have great events in NYC, but LA — or rather Stacy Bendet knows how to throw a party. Her show is always a highlight for me during New York Fashion Week so it was so exciting attend her See-Now Buy-Now Runway show. Stacey Bendet has that rare ability to mix fantasy with fashion, where everything she creates is completely wearable (and drool worthy) and you want to live in the world — or rather scenes she creates.

Music Festival Kick Off. Who’s ready for Coachella?

I’m in a complete music festival state of mind. I’ve been zipping around LA this past week getting ready. and this is the first year that I feel like I’m doing it completely proper! I’ll be in Palm Springs for both weekends to really enjoy all of the fun parties without feeling like I’m missing most of Coachella. And then weekend 2, I’ll be all about the music festival (and in between the two weeks I’ll be touring the Palm Springs area and Joshua Tree. Of all the days I’m most looking forward to Saturday! Fitness Style: How to Take Your Outfit from Day to the Gym

On Monday I had to be in Westchester to test out a salon and on my way over stopped at DICK’S Sporting Goods in White Plains to stock up on some new workout gear. They carry so many of my favorite brands including Brook’s Running, Nike, Adidas, Reebok, Under Armour… basically every major women’s fitness brand that is both fashionable and functional. Being constantly on the go and the fact that you can’t wear workout clothes twice without washing them has has me hoarding fitness attire. Shopping the aisles, DICK’s has a great assortment of basics and prints and name brands at great prices. Plus the store is massive so there is a ton of women’s apparel and sneakers to pick from.

Pops of Color for Spring with Mywalit

It may be spring but I haven’t fully transitioned my wardrobe yet — probably since it’s been feeling more like fall then spring lately. That’s all about to change. I just booked my flight to LA for April 8th gearing up for Coachella and I am in a complete spring state of mind! I’ve even starting breaking out the bright nail polish colors. I’m so ready to refresh my closet with color, color, and more color and lots of fun prints starting with my new Mywalit Rio Small Zip Top bag.

Spring is the season of color so while I’m not shy when it comes to incorporating bright pieces into my wardrobe, I’m completely lacking in the bag department. If you peaked into my closet, you would think I collect medium to large black bags for sport. Even my current wallet is black, which let me tell you is a miss! Going for a bright wallet (I have my eye on the styles from Mywalit) makes finding it that much easier — especially in your big, black purses.

I’m changing my stripes and all about the colorful bag this season. Going black all the time is some defense mechanism that it’s more functional but that’s just not the case.
