Alright, I’ll admit it: my expectations were quite high for Emerson’s 2014 collection. But not to fret, my fellow ex punk girls; my expectations were met. Walking in, it was like being at a family gathering before a big dinner; everyone was happy to be there and eager to see the collection. The inspiration (get this!) was an imagined garden party where the Ramones were playing a secret show and was crashed by a bunch of punk rock kids — talk about imagination!
NYFW: SKINGRAFT Spring/Summer 2014 Collection
SKINGRAFT made its first New York fashion week appearance this year with a bang. We didn’t know too much about this LA based designer before seeing the show, but we were soon mesmerized by what they had to offer.
Motorcycle chic became a bit more relaxed and sporty as leather and mesh were paired with racing stripes and soft fabrics. The color scheme, predominately black and white, was punctuated with canary yellow and an unexpected skull/bone print. Some looks that were most memorable were a black laser cut leather top and skirt, which he showed together but can easily be worn separately, and a chiffon hoodie with racing stripes (how fun!). Our personal favorite was dress with a surprising pairing of black leather and flowey chiffon, topped with a black leather motorcycle jacket – the perfect good girl gone bad look.

New York Fashion Week: Honor S/S 2014 Show
A collection to look forward to season after season is Honor. You can always count on designer Giovanna Randall to turn up the charm in the pretty department and the Spring 2014 collection was no different. Although the
NYFW: Backstage at Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2014 Show with Stila, TRESemme + ESSIE
Backstage at Rebecca Minkoff, the hair was a gorgeous, effortless braided up-do that I’d like to start rocking now, paired with a bolder eye and palette of Navajo neutrals and fun patterned pink nails to finish off the look. Rebecca Minkoff’s inspiration for the Spring 2014 collection was taken from an old photo of Bianca Jagger traveling in Mexico and the beauty teams played off that idea when developing the looks.
NYFW: Concept Korea Spring/Summer 2014 Collection
Concept Korea is a global project that publicizes Korea’s fashion culture throughout the world of fashion and shows four different talented designers from Korea each season during New York Fashion Week. Presented at Lincoln Center, it’s like four fashion shows in one, as each designer/label, KAAL E.sukae, ChohBoko, beyond closet and Big Park showed off their unique look. In between each collection, the designer would tell a story through graphic visuals and blaring music to foreshadow their collection down the runway. We were lucky enough to sit front-row at this unique show.
KAAL E.sukae was the first collection to make its striking appearance down the runway. The collection paid homage to the ultimate classic: black and white. It consisted of a very clean and structural esthetic, staying true to the designer’s inspiration from the bible phrase, “The stone the builder rejected has become the corner stone.”
ChohBoko was the second in line to send garments down the runway. His collection reminded me of Vivienne Westwood punk days with exaggerated colors and patterns. I will say, though, the most memorable outfit was when the models came down the runway with a matching voodoo doll.
Beyond closet — This one is for the boys! The collection consisted of modern sports wear. His spring 2014 collection was inspired by the views of everyday men going to the gym and their transformation from a gaunt state to more muscular and masculine.
Big park: His collection focused solely on silhouette, shape, and pattern. With making a blush leather jacket and a black skater skirt it was easy to see how parts of his collection could be incorporated into your everyday wardrobe.

New York Fashion Week: Front Row at NOON BY NOOR Spring 2014
I first learned about NOON BY NOOR at an event earlier this year. I was interviewing Ginnifer Goodwin and when I asked who she was wearing she called out the designer. That’s when my love affair with the brand began and upon receiving a ticket to the show to preview their Spring collection is where the love affair continued (especially being seated front row where I could truly appreciate every detail of the design). And I wasn’t the only one. Sitting across from me was Solange and Leigh Lezark in matching NOON BY NOOR prints.
NYFW: Honor S/S 2014
A collection to look forward to season after season is Honor. You can always count on designer Giovanna Randall to turn up the charm in the pretty department and the Spring 2014 collection was no different. Although the runway scene might have lead you to believe there would be some eerie inspiration with the misty decor and the tone of a moody soundtrack, it never made an appearance.
NYFW: Backstage at Jason Wu Spring 2014 Show with Lancome
When you get invited to see the behind the scenes for a mega designer such as Jason Wu, you view every detail and you view it thoroughly. The designer himself said this collection was “a dialogue between construction and ease” and you certainly felt that before even seeing the garments. The hair by lead stylist Odile Gilbert was sleekly constructed into pristine ponytails with help from Kerastase’s Boucles D’Art mousse.
NYFW: Backstage and Front at the Charlotte Ronson S/S2014 Presentation
When it comes to a chic, feminine, and flirty every day looks, Charlotte Ronson sure knows how to please. The Spring/Summer 2014 Charlotte Ronson presentation was inspired by the cool, sexy, New York girl. Bold prints and femininity dominated the presentation while mid drifts and cutouts got me thinking forward to Spring already!
{Sheer, wide-legged, patterned pants and a crop top? My favorite look!}
The girls were primmed and prepped for for the presentation with a simple gold and purple eye by Romy Soleimani with Boots No. 7 cosmetics. Nails were polka dotted and perfected by Color Club Nail Lacquer. To recreate the look just do one coat of Color Club nail polish in French Tip, (let it dry), and the follow up with doing a unified classic polka dot using their Art Duo Pen in Black.
NYFW: Christian Siriano Spring/Summer 2014
Christian Siriano sure knows how to make Spring fashion fun. The 2008 Project Runway winner debuted his Spring/Summer 2014 line in a way that transported the spectator to a far away land. Imagine your perfect spring-time getaway; bold patterns, floral designs, crop tops, peplum, and feathers, there were so many gorgeous options to get you ready for that Spring or Summer vacation… can we pack our bags now?!
