Sensation Comes to NYC

When I was invited to Sensation, the world’s leading electronic dance music event meets White Party, I had no idea what to expect. I scrambled in my wardrobe for anything and settled on my only white options of a Sachi + Babi dress, vintage white bootie shoes and an offwhite Rebecca Minkoff bag (arguable the only white I won).

Prior to coming to the Big Apple, Sensation was a purely Euro-only event — and judging by the crowd, many ventured over. Hosted at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, it felt like I walked into a legit rave. Greated at the door by a group of stunning ladies dressed in white with beaded necklaces and red lipstick we were given our green bracelets and escorted to the American Express 40/40 VIP Lounge.

We walked onto the floor and it was this incredible view of thousands of people dancing around these lotus flower shaped fountains and DJ booth. You can see the theme of different elements pouring through the stadium.

Katie Holmes, Julianna Margulies, Emma Roberts Celebrate Narciso Rodriguez for Kohl’s DesignNation Fashion Collection

Designer collaborations with department stores are becoming more and more common and access to some of our favorite name brands at a fraction of the cost. Narsico Rodriguez is the latest designer to join the Kohl’s collaboration club with the launch of  DesignNation, the store’s new limited-edition collection concept of which Rodriquez is the first to participate in. Monday night we joined the brand in celebration of the launch in Chelsea with champagne, hors d’oeuvres, and celebrity appearances by Emma Roberts, Julianna Margulies and Katie Holmes.

Color blocking and geometric shapes are key characteristics that you will see in his line for Kohl’s, as well as fun paisley patterns and styles. To

Tough Mudder Strong! 12 miles, 22 obstacles later…

I had quite the exciting weekend! Yesterday at 1:15pm I became a Tough Mudder! With a start time at 9:40pm, it took my team 3 hours and 35 minutes to do a 12 mile obstacle course that involved jumping into ice cold water, being electric shocked, running a mile in mud, going through fire… and that’s just the beginning.

{Tough Mudder strong! 12 miles and 22 obstacles courses later we became Tough Mudders!}

Want a taste of what it’s like? Check out this video… I literally did everything–minus the carrying of the logs (which wasn’t an offered obstacle in my race) –plus additional obstacles not featured. (Even the guy speaking in the video was there.)

Designed by the British Special Forces, Tough Mudder tests your all around strength, stamina, metal grit, and camaraderie. With the most innovative courses, Tough Mudder is the premier adventure challenge series in the world and with more than 500,000 participants (+ the 22,000 that ran the same day as me — we broke the biggest 1-day record!), they have managed to raise more than $3.7 million for the Wounded Warrior Project.

SuperTrash Opens in NYC

I love this recent explosion of European designers opening stores in the US (and selfishly NYC so I can get in on it!). Last night I attended the opening of SuperTrash, which is the brainchild of Dutch fashion designer Olcay Gulsen hosted by Interview Magazine. Despite a name like SuperTrash the designs are anything but. It’s actually a very chic mix of feminine and edgy — we’re talking a white tuxedo jacket (with a black trim), crossed fabrications of motorcycle style jackets and vests, metallic jeans, feminine tops with sweet lacing details… They additionally have a very feminine line of lingerie, shoes, handbags and accessories, a fragrance line — and a magazine! And the pricing is affordable (I’d say it’s comprable to Top Shop).

Antica Pesa Opens in Williamsburg

Straight from the Trastevere district of Rome (which incidentally when I visited over the summer I was told is the Williamsburg of Rome), the family owned restaurant, Antica Pesa (which has been around since 1922!), has opened it’s second location in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. If you love authentic, el denti Italian food add Antica Pesa to your list of must tries.

Dim lighting, great wine, the restaurant was buzzing last night with Italiens and Manhattanites alike. The decor was just enough model meets rustic to give the room a homey feel and

Ring in the Holiday with Henri Bendel (& mark your calendar for Nov. 15th…)

By now you all know that I’m a Bendel’s girl. Their Fifth Avenue flagship store feels like a museum every time I visit — except better since I can actually play with the assortment and have the opportunity to purchase it. So naturally, any invite I get from them should come with an oxygen tank. Recently, I visited the office to peek the holiday collection, which I’m so excited to share with you!

But first, mark your calendar for November 15th! You’re invited to join, Chris Fiore, President of Henri Bendel for the unveiling of their holiday windows. Rumor has it Bendel’s is going 1920s style. Plus, you can see all the beauties I featured below up close and personal and for any purchase you make that evening 10% of the proceeds will benefit The Eric Trump Foundation Charity for Children.

Food Network Wine & Food Festival hits NYC #NYCWFF

What a great weekend to eat and drink the days away. Aside from the gorgeous weather, the Food Network hosted their annual New York City Wine & Food Festival (which happened 10/11 – 10/14). It is the only festival in New York to bring together both legendary culinary icons from around the globe and America’s most beloved television chefs.

This year marks their fifth anniversary and, once again, 100% of the net proceeds benefit the Food Bank For New York City and Share Our Strength®—to date they have raised over $5 million to help fight hunger!

In the course of 4 days, Wine & Food hosts 120 private events all around the city, including their signature Grand Tasting event which is hosted in a large expo hall (this year it was at Pier 57) and is filled with the greatest chefs, restaurant owners, winemakers, spirits producers and personalities of the food world.

As you enter the Grand Tasting, you receive a wine glass which you then proceed to fill (and refill and refill) while

Petra Nemcova lights the Empire State Building for Only Make Believe on Broadway

This afternoon, model, television host, and philanthropist, Petra Nemcova, flipped the switch to light the Empire State Building in honor of Only Make Believenon-profit organization that creates and performs interactive theatre for children in hospitals and care facilities. on Broadway.

I unfortunately missed the lighting ceremony so I just took a walk to the waterfront to see the Empire State Building lit purple, blue and yellow, the colors of Only Make Believe in celebration of their annual gala, Only Make Believe on Broadway.

Go look outside your window! (Provided you have a view)
