The Another New York Fashion Week came and went. And unlike this spring, which was all about heavy contouring and strobing, we have saw a push for more natural, luminous skin. The looks may be more subdued, but that doesn’t mean you have to put your bronzers and highlighters away quite yet; just use them in a softer manner to enhance your natural glow.
Donate your unused beauty products. Here’s how!
Hi friends! As some of you know I helped start, Share Your Beauty the first beauty product donation program, in partnership with the non-profit organization Family-to-Family. Together we organize drives and events to collect beauty and hygiene products and deliver them to shelters and teen centers in NYC and the tri-state area.
We’d love your support with donations of any unused beauty and haircare products (unopened samples will also be accepted) for a special drive we’re working on. Anyone that donates 10+ products will receive a $20 credit to the PRIV app. PRIV brings your favorite beauty services including manicures, blowouts, and makeup applications directly to your location; anytime, anywhere.
MAC Announces latest Collaborations
MAC Cosmetics is on a role with their collaborations! While taking over fashion week (they always dominate the backstage beauty scene), the brand announced a collaboration with designer, Jeremy Scott during his New York Fashion Week show. To Coincide with the New York premiere of Jeremy Scott: The People’s Designer, Jeremy Scott released his first-ever beauty exclusive. Available only in a special M.A.C red, the color comes enclosed in a Scott-designed tube.

Ouidad Fashion Week Photoshoot with Lord Ashbury
When it comes to curly hair, Ouidad is the expert. In fact her namesake line was the first curly-hair specific products I ever purchased well over a decade ago. Back then the packaging was different and products of this caliber didn’t exist. Her salon, which opened in the 80s was the first to exclusively cut curly hair and cater to the wavy and super curly hair community.
During fashion week I joined the brand for an exclusive photo shoot hosted by Natalie Zfat and the incredibly talented photographer, Lord Ashbury. I walked in with my grungy curls, fresh out of the shower and product-less and with just three Ouidad products, my amazing hair stylist Nikki Providence completely revived and transformed my curls to their best selves. To be photographed at Sixty Soho by such talent like Lord Ashbury was so great and how bomb are my curls?!?!
Using all Ouidad products (obviously) Nikki walked me through the ones best suited for my loose curls and showed me how to use them.
My hair was already dry and falling flat by the time I arrived at the shoot (I had a 7am fashion show call time and my shoot wasn’t until 2pm). We started with the Ouidad Botanical Boost Curl Energizing & Refreshing Spray, spritzing the product directly on the curls that needed to be revived. She then twisted the curl in its natural direction and scrunched it up to help re-boost it. When hair is wet it reignites the curl and since hydrated curls curl better this product works on both fronts. It’s light and moisturizing so you can use it generously throughout your hair and that wetting effect helps bring those curls back to life.

NYFW: Backstage Beauty look at Lela Rose S/S 2016 Collection
No one does pretty quite like Lela Rose, and her S/S 2016 beauty looks are nothing short of stunning. Although the core of the look radiates sweetness, a little edge keeps it from going saccharine. Using all Kevyn Aucoin products, Romy Soleimani for beauty.com led the artistry team creating a dewey and natural look with an emphasis on the eye. A light pink, glossy lip and a healthy, glowing face sets the tone. But the statement is the tight black cat eye that brings a dose of sexiness to the runway. “It never goes out of style,” says Soleimani. “We’re doing quite a minimal cat eye, it’s a tight line on top and bottom.” The minimalism of the rest of the pallet emphasizes the cat eye further. The models wear no mascara, and no blush, just some light gloss on the lips and rose gold highlight on the cheeks.
NYFW: Backstage Beauty look at Alice and Olivia S/S 2016 Collection
For Alice and Olivia’s spring/summer 2016 presentation it was all about the statement eye! CEO Stacey Bendet partnered with Stila for a look that kept the face and lips natural while creating a beautiful encrusted gold statement eye. The models skin was prepped with products from Skin Inc to keep the complexion dewey and natural. Since pretty, dessert skin was such a focus on this look the models were prepped with Skin Inc’s Pure Revival Peel, nourishes with a customized serum (which is what Skin Inc is all about – you can mix and match ingredients based on your skincare goals). The skincare was then sealed in with the Pure Deepsea Hydrating Mask (including under the eyes). And for the under eyes they then applied the Vitamin A Serum on top.
