British fashion label, Karen Millen, recently celebrated the launch of its second NYC location at Bloomingdale’s at 59th Street. Glamorous and sophisticated, every article of clothing was made to exude a woman’s sense of confidence and keen sense of style.

NYFW: Pencey Spring/Summer 2013 Presentation
This Fashion Week, Pencey’s Christina Minanian collaborated with famed DJ Mia Moretti to put together a 10-piece jazz era inspired collection for the Spring/Summer 2013 presentation. Unique and flowery, Moretti’s personal style was a great addition to Pency’s collection. The juxtaposition of simple stripes and intricate flower designs definitely made for an eye-catching presentation.

NYFW: Nicole Miller Spring/Summer 2013 Runway Show (+ Video)
We saw a lot of prints this fashion week, but Nicole Miller’s we’re amongst my favorite. The collection had a lot of energy and amped up some of the classic silhouettes Nicole Miller is known for — airy silk organza tops, stretch skinny pants and fitted dresses. Also her leather pieces we’re exceptional. I’m not big on wearing leather but their was a vest, jacket and skirt that made me eat those words three time over. It had a very rocker meets feminine mix that really worked. I loved this collection!
{LOVED this leather jacket, especially the versatility with the zippers}
{The skirt, the shorts, the dress, the jacket… the leather was a hit!}

NYFW: Rebecca Minkoff Spring/Summer 2013 Fashion Show
Wearable sportswear with a hippy chic theme in a variety of prints, colors and fabrications from embroidery to summer tweeds and fringed hems hit the runway at Rebecca Minkoff’s Spring/Summer 2013 show. Minkoff took inspiration from the iconic 60s and 70s American photographer Slim Aarons when designing her collection.
Elongated pockets, interesting geometric cuts and patterns galore made their mark as the models walked down the runway to the beats of Tennis and DJ Cassidy. The performers took to each side of the stage for a
NYFW: DEGEN Spring/Summer 2013 Presentation
“The REVOLUTION will be CRAFTIVISED” was the slogan of Lindsay Degen’s namesake DEGEN Spring/Summer presentation and it could not be more on point. Lindsay’s passion for knitting is evident and her funky and creative sense of style is the basis for all her work.
NYFW: Reem Acra Spring/Summer 2013 Runway Show (+Video)
After seeing so many sportswear shows, to say I was ready for some award show red carpet worthy gowns is an understatement. Reem Acra brought it! Finding an unusual mix of inspiration including extracting the bold, abstract energy of Aaron Young’s famous series of motorcycle inspired works. The collection is powerful, with exceptional details that brings a modern femininity to evening wear. The tailoring is executed through laser cuts, vivid colors and uniquely juxtaposed elements. Makeup by the legendary, Pat McGrath, hair by Rutger Van der Heide.
Here’s my video from the shows finale:

Side note: You’ll never guess who was sitting near me in the front row… Paula Abdul! And because I was behind her walking out, fans kept asking if I’d take a picture with their phone and then someone asked if I wanted one — and you know what… why not?

Talk about being in the right place at the right time…
NYFW: Kuning Spring/Summer 2013 Presentation
I’m new to the label Kuning so I didn’t know what to expect when attending their Spring/Summer 2013 presentation. And after experiencing it, I’m happy to report it was easily one of the cutest and most creative presentations of the season (and I’m taking before we even start talking about the clothes). Major props the producers, this show was done so well. The invitation came in the form of a silver pocket watch (it was all very Alice and Wonderland of them), the layout of the models we’re styled with anything from vintage cages to picnic table sets – there was even a real dog (as in the most well behaved hound on the planet). And all of this was done in the Mezzanine of the Empire Hotel with grass (okay it was AstroTurf) overlaid over the carpet, but still! And don’t even get me started on the mini alcoholic cupcakes that the models would hand out when you entered their station – it was an incredibly interactive show. The highlight being every 15 minutes the models would break into a routine dance that not only helped show the movement of the clothing but added such energy and fun to the atmosphere.
{The models getting their grove on and video of the live performance}
Okay, now I’ll get to the clothes… vintage picnic chic. The men had a bit of a casual Newsies meets Gatsby theme with white button down shirts and matching suspenders, while the women sported a white bottoms (well white everything) and a minimalistic range of yellow and red tops paired with waffle below the knee chiffon skirts.

NYFW: Candela Spring/Summer 2013 Presentation
There was an indescribable innocence to the Spring/Summer 2012 Candela collection that made you want to lounge in the countryside — preferably in the south of France sipping champagne with one hand and holding a parasol in the other. Each design had an incredible softness that was completely inchanting and delicately feminine.

I expect several knock offs from Anthropologie next year.

nhl caps You can’t throw a tent peg at a festival (or on a British beach) without hitting one of the following examples of hats to be avoided at all costs: Woody Allen ish floppy cotton hats, tropical pink straw styles that look like they should be hit by children bearing sticks piata style, cowboy hats, trilbies with ornate trims or in pastel colours, baker boy/ baseball hybrids. These are the hats of shame. So what does that leave?. nhl caps
nba caps In a city where talented and passionate cooks can be hard to come by, I have been quite fortunate to be surrounded by some very committed, hard working and loyal chefs who have helped me in achieving this. It can still be a source of stress and anxiety when I hear that we didn live up to a guest expectations, especially when it was because we failed to adhere to our standards and expectations. I am blessed in one sense though. nba caps
mlb caps Time to delve into the innards of both devices, and well, on paper the Lumia 1020 might seem to be better endowed thanks to its dual core processor, 32 GB onboard storage and 2GB RAM, but get into camera territory and the RX 100 II pulls ahead. It has a 1.0 type sensor with 20.2 effective megapixels, which might be lower in megapixel count than the monster 41.0 megapixel sensor seen on the Lumia 1020, but is significantly larger in size (the Lumia 1020 has an image sensor of 1/1.5 inch size). The RX 100 II also comes with a proper 3.6X optical zoom which compares very favourably with a 3X lossless zoom on the Lumia 1020. mlb caps

Sponsored Post: Need a boost, try Starbucks Refreshers
As many of you know (especially my twitter/instagram followers), I went straight from a trip driving up the coast of California, to going to Burning Man, to doing a mini half-cross-country trip to Colorado, only to fly into NY for Fashion Week and then depart for a press trip to Poland (and I just landed back in NYC this evening). Needless to say, life’s been exciting by my energy levels have been put to the test.
Enter Starbucks Refeshers. This year Starbucks launched Starbucks Refreshers™ which comes in three forms, VIA (the instant coffee packets — just add water), an in-store beverage which is available in Very Berry Hibiscus (my preferred flavor) and Cool lime, and their sparkling energy beverages which comes in Raspberry Pomegranate, Strawberry Lemonade and Orange Melon flavors. I have actually tried them all… Starbucks Refreshers are naturally caffeinated from green coffee extract, and combines real fruit juice, B Vitamins, Vitamin C and Ginseng it makes for the perfect afternoon-pick-me-up.
I’m not usually one for bottled energy drinks, mainly because most of the cans on the market are filled with chemicals and are high in calories, but neither were the case with Starbucks Refreshers sparkling energy beverage. The ingredient list isn’t scary and it only has 60 calories per can.
It’s shocking to me that a beverage that tastes like a fruit spritzer is actually coffee. Or better yet, green coffee, which contains less caffeine then regular coffee so I don’t feel guilty about drinking them in the afternoon and/or early evening to recharge with the fear that they will keep me up all night. Plus it seems to chemically agree with my system better (I think my body is just immune to all of the dark roast coffee I drink) and is super convenient to stock up on in the fridge.

It’s also hands down been my savior when it comes to jetlag. I boarded my flight to Poland drinking Starbucks Refreshers and it’s the first thing I bought when I landed at JFK this afternoon to keep me up until a reasonable sleeping hour (and be able to write this post). They have managed to keep me alert without feeling jittery or overly hyper. It takes about 20minutes for it to kick in and within that timeframe they completely dissolves that feeling of needing a power nap to go on.
All of the Refreshers are sweeter then I’d like but still enjoyable. My favorite flavors rank in this order: Orange Melon (it’s the most refreshing and natural tasting), Raspberry Pomegranate (which I’m also a fan of), then Strawberry Lemonade (which is the sweetest of them all).
About Starbucks Refreshers™ Ready To Drink: Each beverage is a sparkling, delicious boost of natural energy from Green Coffee Extract you can enjoy anytime. With real fruit juice, B vitamins, ginseng, antioxidants from vitamin C and only 60 calories per can, it’s a pick-me-up you can feel good about.
