One of the most amazing weekend getaways you can take is one to Newport, RI. Famous for their mansions tours and sailing culture, this charming New England enclave is only 3 hours from New York and 1 hour from Boston. We recently hit the road with Chevrolet to spend an amazing weekend touring this town.
While in Newport we stayed at the recently opened, Gilded. A boutique hotel with bit of a bed and breakfast feel that’s both welcoming and whimsical. With loads of personality and a darling decor, the Gilded features 17 rooms with LED Smart TV’s, iPads loaded with local information (where to eat, visit, tour…) and the dangerously comfortable beds topped luxury linens for an ultra luxe stay.
Stays include breakfast which is a well curated assortment of small plates displayed at the check-in desk. The location is prime in that it’s on a quiet street with only a 10-15 walk to downtown.
One of the most stand out features is the decor. Taking a modern, irreverent take on the decadent style of the Gilded Age, it’s possibly the funkiest and well decorated hotel I’ve been to in a while. Featuring bold brights with loads of charm (and some of the best wallpaper choices I’ve ever seen) it’s a visual paradise.
