NYFW: Laurel DeWitt F/W 2015 Collection

Laurel DeWitt f/w 2015

Cleopatra met knights in chain mail in Laurel DeWitt’s stunning F/W ’15 runway show. Lanky models strutted down the runway wearing the exquisite metal creations DeWitt is known for. There was a distinctly ‘70s vibe in the fringy hooded dresses and cropped two-piece sets. Strictly in silver, black, and gold the collection gave a delightful summer edge to a fall look. The statement piece of the show featured a crinoline-inspired dress with a fitted top and a matching headdress and veil. DeWitt is not only a designer but also a sculptor, architect, and artist. Her architectural training comes through in the sharp angles and long lines that punctuate the collection. As if her looks weren’t avant-garde enough, DeWitt featured models of all sexes and ages in her show. The presentation opened with a young boy and featured a male model in addition to the female looks. The range of fits, styles, and visions in the collection shows DeWitt’s tremendous breadth as a designer.
