You know the age-old notion that expensive skin care is the only way to achieve impeccable skin? Which by the way, I’ve always found completely annoying. In my 9 years of beauty blogging and 12 years in the beauty industry, I’ve tried a lot of expensive skincare products that were duds and inexpensive ones that we’re amazing, and vice versa. A lot of people look at marketing and packaging when it’s really the formulas and clinical testing that should drive our purchasing decisions. Olay for me is the leading example of this. Their Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream is legendary. And while I love a lot of drugstore products, Olay is the only brand and specifically this product that I can guarantee works.
Now that may sound presumptuous but last year my mom and I went on a journey with Olay testing out an unmarked moisturizer and had our skin measured weekly to monitor any changes. (You can read all about it HERE). Spoiler alert, my mom showed crazy improvements – and she’s a woman that has access to my endless beauty closet, and no stranger to good skincare. It didn’t compare. Her improvements in both lifting and hydration were drastic and it wasn’t until the end of our clinical study when we told that she was using the re-engineered Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream!
Full disclosure, in the campaign above my mom was actually the one that tested Olay Regenerist last year, so I included the video campaign so you can see her reaction. For the clinicals it was unbeknownst to us at the time that we were trying different products. And I was actually using Olay Total Effects, which is another major award winner from the line. That said I’ve burned through bottles of the original Regenerist over the years and have backups for my backups on hand in my beauty closet. I don’t actually think this product has ever not been in my medicine cabinet since even before I turned 30.
So it is with great joy, and no surprise when I found out that Olay just won the ‘Good Housekeeping Seal’ for the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream! Now that’s a huge deal. Any brand that wins that award is one that people should take notice of because the testing they do is thorough and intense. I’ve visited the Good Housekeeping office and seen the labs and work they do and they don’t hand out that seal without a lot of hurdles. Which is why it’s my opinion that this is one of the most prestigious beauty awards a brand can receive. And when they dove into this Olay product, their findings were awesome.
An independent test conducted by the Good Housekeeping Institute revealed that Olay’s new Regenerist formula outperformed the top 10 prestige creams, including one with a whopping $440 price tag! At the Good Housekeeping Institute, engineers, scientists and other experts extensively test and evaluate products based on performance, safety, durability and design. Over 10,000 skin hydration measurements were collected and Olay rose to the top. THE FINDINGS:
- FAST-ACTING: At the three-hour mark, Olay moisturized 400% better than a cream nearly 18 times its price and beat all other products tested.
- LONG-LASTING HYDRATION: Olay increased moisture by 50% on average over a 24-hour period.
- LIGHTWEIGHT TEXTURE: In blind comparisons, consumers preferred Olay 80% of the time over expensive creams, reporting that it felt “rich” without being heavy.
- FIRMING & PLUMPING INGREDIENTS: Formulated with powerhouse ingredients like niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, Olay improved skin’s texture by 10% in four weeks.
These newest findings underpin Olay’s commitment to bringing visible anti-aging results to women without premium prices. This is more significant today than ever before, as a recent Olay study with 155,000 women showed that 80% of skin’s anti-aging destiny is within women’s control and not related to genes. Instead of spending hundreds of dollars on prestige creams that over-promise and under-deliver, women can now turn to Olay for the best possible skin care, at a fraction of the cost.
What actually blew my mind beyond the report, and that this $26.99 cream outdid a $440 one, was that Olay took the original Regenerist, which was the #1 best selling anti-aging moisturizer in the country and decided to re-engineer it to make it even better. I think that speaks volumes about the brand.
The Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream is not only an anti-aging cream, but a moisturizing and plumping powerhouse. Even with the original formula, its ability to immediately plump skin and instantly fill in lines was amazing. Results start at day 1!
The re-engineered formula has the added benefits of Carob Seed Extract, which aids in skin repair and regeneration. That coupled with Niacinamide (Vitamin B3), that boosts cell turnover, Vitamin E that protects against sun damage, Amino-Peptides that restructures the skin and helps decrease the appearance of fines lines and wrinkles, Vitamin B5 and hyaluronic acids that helps hydrate the skin, this cream delivers.
The other draw to the product is the user experience. Its lightweight texture feels rich without being heavy. After just one application, the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles are visibly plumped, and skin feels instantly brightened and hydrated. Use it day and night on cleansed skin as directed but I also recommend adding this product to your pre-makeup routine for better foundation and concealer application.
It’s an incredible price point at $26.99, especially for the anti-aging category for the 30+ community. Learn more at olay.com
