Colourpop x Hello Kitty

hello kitty x colourpop makeup collaboration

You’ve probably heard by now but Colourpop is collaborating with Hello Kitty! I was so excited to meet their co-founder Laura Nelson, and the kitty of the hour — Charlie and I both wore red head bows in support. For me ColourPop is an anomaly. As someone who came from the beauty brand side before starting my blog, what they have managed to accomplish in literally no time is incredible in this day and age. I have so much respect for them and love seeing the collaborations they do and all of your support for the brand all over my Instagram feed. Also the brand loves rescues, so now Charlie and I are obsessed.

We can take a break from my fan girl moment to go back to the Colourpop x Hello Kitty collection and launch party. First off there was Hello Kitty waffles and coffee… just saying. As for the collection there are 4 cheek products ($8 each), 8 ultra lippes that range from glossy, matte, metallic to satin ($6 each), 3 lippie stix ($6 each), 7 shadows ($5 each), the makeup bag ($12). There are also two kits available, Mama’s Apple Pie Shadow Quad, which features 4 eye shadow shades ($18), and the Hello Pretty Face Kit ($42) that includes 2 cheek products, 2 lip products, and 3 shadows.

Now I haven’t tried everything but I did get my hands on all the lippie stix ($6), which includes, swatched left to right: Let’s Play (satin luxe), which is a red sparkle, but the sparkle is so ingrained it looks more like a shimmer, Konichiwa (creme) which is the perfect pink nude, and Date Mate (matte x), which is a punchy pink fuchsia.  What I love about their site is they swatch it on different skintones under each product and it’s amazing how it varies but mines on par for my medium tone skin.

I also played with 6 out of the 8 other lippies ($6 each) and love how they are all different and come in so many finishes. Some are full coverage, then other are just shimmer or a mix of both. Swatched left to right is Trinkets (sheer), Surprise (full coverage), Arigato (sheer), Lock Diary (full coverage), Super Cute (sheer) and Tiny Chum (full coverage).

Colourpop is so awesome and affordable, (there labs made the original Kylie Lip Kit which made mega headlines), and I love that they are partnering with Hello Kitty. She’s such a representation of joy and happiness around the world. In fact Hello Kitty doesn’t have a mouth because she smiles with her eyes. I mean… if that doesn’t melt your heart.
