A few months ago I visited the P&G’s Digital Studio to explore some of our favorite mass brands including COVERGIRL, Pantene, Secret, Olay and more for their newest offerings and innovations. I’ve been playing with the products ever since and here’s what to expect and pay attention to in the drugstore aisle. Major highlight, Pantene being the first brand to develop an alcohol free hairspray! More below:
Pantene Air Spray Hairspray – Six years in the making, Pantene Air Spray is the first non-alcohol aerosol hairspray. Available in a varied of holds (e.g flexible hold, medium flexible hold, etc), the spray leaves your hair touchable and not hard or heavy. The lack of alcohol doesn’t overwhelm the root or hair and works well with heat unlike alcohol-based sprays. Best of all it comes in travel/purse size — gym goers rejoice!
Olay Energizing Lime & White Tea Body Wash – After the much success of the Olay Fresh Outlast collection, the brand is adding a new scent! Awaken your senses with the energizing fragrance of lime and white tea. Olay Fresh Outlast Body Wash leaves you feeling refreshed and beautiful, for a fresh clean that outlasts your day. The result of over 60 years of Olay skin science, Olay’s body washes go beyond clean to improve the condition of skin over time. If you’re wondering the difference between Olay Fresh Effect and Olay Age Defy, Fresh Effects is more about the fun scents with skincare benefits, whereas Age Defy has more skin benefits with a fun scent aftermath. It’s all about preference…
Olay Age Defying Moisture Outlast Body Wash – As you know from commercials, Olay Moisture Outlast body washes are different from regular soap that can leave skin dry. The body wash penetrates surface skin layer by layer to improve the condition of skin over time: 1 Use – Cleans and visibly conditions maturing skin, 1 Week – Conditions skin surface for soft, smooth skin, 1 Bottle – Combats dryness associated with skin aging – for younger-looking skin. I’m all about the skin benefits and extra hydration with this dry winter so this is my go to and they do not skimp on the scent. It’s as floral as they get.
Olay Micro-Sculpting Cream With SPF 30 – Olay’s Micro-Sculpting Cream comes in a new version of their iconic, award-winning Regenrist cream now comes with the added value of an SPF 30. The cream protect against 97% of uv rays and has all the great benefits of the original cream: lightweight, creamy and moisturizing. It doesn’t leave a white cast or residue and I love that it’s in a pump!
COVERGIRL Oh Sugar! Lipsticks – Vitamin infused lip balm boosted with grapeseed oil, avocado butter and Vitamins C & E available in a variety of shades. I’ve only used shade 01 Cupcake which gives a frosty effect that isn’t pigmented so I can’t speak for the color payoff but my lips feel oh so hydrated and pretty when I wear it.
COVERGIRL + Olay Simply Ageless Liquid Foundation – COVERGIRL meets Olay science with a product that instantly reduces wrinkles, evens skin tone and delivers firming hydration with the Simply Ageless 3-in-1 foundation. If you like souffle like foundations this is a must try since it has a lot of the same attributes without feeling greasy or heavy. With great coverage and a smooth, barely visible look it glides on like a lotion, covering every little flaw. If you use a mattifying foundation first, you can use this over it for any areas that need extra coverage as well.
CoverGirl Trunaked Eyeshadow Palette – Get the same look as a leading $50 eye shadow palette with CoverGirl’s new TruNaked eyeshadow palettes. Available in 3 palettes, Roses (swatched above), Goldens and Nudes, each palette feature 8 highly pigmented, universally flattering, shades that are made to be blended together and mixed and matched. I’ve only used the Roses palette, swatched above and it is rich and powdery that blend beautifully together. This is my favorite eyeshadow palette they have come up with yet!
CoverGirl Plumpify Blast Pro Mascara – Plumpify blastPRO Mascara plumpifies your lashes with a “50x volume boost”. Mine didn’t go that far but they lifted and curled beautifully. This volumizing mascara has a specialized, double-action brush that vertically lifts lashes from their roots, guaranteeing plumping without the clumping. It was easy to use and my lashes we’re full and looked great for day or night.
Secret Outlast Xtend Deodorant – Reacting to the staggering statistic that 1 in 4 women across the country re-apply their deodorant Secret decided to up the ante on their existing Outlast formula to develop their patented Xtend Technology to increase the level of odor protection and protect for 48 hours!
Available in Invisible Solid and Clear Gel in a variety of scents you can see some type of science experiment above showing how much more protection you’re getting from the new formula.. This was great news for me since I’ve been living at the gym thanks to my bikini shoot for People StyleWatch and I’ve been using the Invisible Solid which has kept me dry and stank-free.
Head & Shoulders Nourishing Hair & Scalp Care Dandruff Shampoo and Conditioner– Alas I haven’t tried the new P&G hair products but this one smells amazing! With the calming scent of lavender, Nourishing Hair & Scalp shampoo and conditioner has three main ingredients to lock in moisture for a healthy scalp. Like traditional Head & Shoulders, the Hair & Scalp Care line leaves you flake free and the best part: it’s safe for color-treated hair. So appreciated since I can actually try it after I’m done with my current routine.
Clairol CC+ Color Seal Conditioner – Everyone loves that little miracle conditioner that comes in Clairol’s at-home dye kit. Now, for the first time (thank you beauty gods) it’s available on its own. CC+ Color Seal Conditioner is formulated with a new ingredient, Histidine, to protect your hair color from the damaging effects of copper found in water. Just apply either the Brilliant Blondes, Beautiful Brunettes or Radiant Reds CC+ once a week to keep your color vibrant between colorings.
Also at the Clairol station I watched as my fellow beauty bloggers and editors greatly failed at the which of these are natural red heads and which use nice’neasy from Clairol game — pretty crazy, right?
Herbal Essences Naked Clean and Refresh Shampoo and Conditioner– Lastly, the Herbal Essences Naked Collection lets you shed the expectations of what your hair should be and celebrate what it is – naturally beautiful and authentic in its “Naked State.” With white strawberry and mint essences, the Naked Clean and Refresh Shampoo provides a naturally refreshing, uninhibited experience. The Naked shampoos are designed to be different from typical clear shampoos, with a surfactant system that has a lower overall level of surfactants – which means you get a low-lather formula, that’s free of silicones, parabens and dyes, that is still able to deliver the necessary cleansing you expect. Clean & Refresh offers a deep clean so it’s great for removing excess buildup or if you just want a boost of lightweight volume or so I learned at the event! While I tried all of the beauty and body products I’m still working my way through hair.
