Ride for a Cause with Cyc Fitness

As some of you might now, I started a Wellness Wednesday series which I’m determined to keep up with and every week (if not on the blog that at least on Instagram) to share new health initiatives I’m partaking in as part of my commitment to be healthier in 2016. I’ve done my fair share of cycling classes but admittedly never stuck to biking as a regular form of exercise until partnering with Cyc for their Calories for a Cause program. For all of January and February Cyc is donating $1 to benefit the Challenged Athletes Foundation on behalf of their riders for every ride done at the studio as part of the program.

This challenge has motivated me to take cycling seriously and Cyc is by far the most convenient and amazing workout for anyone with a busy schedule (hand raised). All classes are 45-minutes beat based spin classes that work your whole body. The Cyc Method was created by Keoni Hudoba and incorporates calorie burning endurance intervals and weighted sectors.

They have two studios in NYC (Astor Place and Hell’s Kitchen) as well as locations in Boston, Ma, Austin, TX, Atlanta, GA, and Madison, WI.

While I’ve enjoyed all of my instructors so far, Hunter Johnson (@huntyjay) is my favorite! The music picks gets you pumped and he knows how to keep the energy up in the room. I like to be motivated while working out, not yelled at, which has been my downfall with some other cycle studios. Hunter and all of the instructors make it fun while kicking my a$$, which is all I can ask for. And at 45 minutes classes it’s been so much easier to duck in for a quick class in between meetings and writing sessions. Especially since shoe rentals are included and you don’t have to bring a lock (all of the lockers have codes), I just throw a sports bra and shorts in my bag and am good to go.
