Whether you’re one for tradition or not, Memorial Day unofficially marks the beginning of white season. Now the fashion industry and whole ‘winter whites’ rivals this whole theme that began sometime in the late 1800s/early 1900s (no one really knows). The connotation being that white was for leisure, while dark clothing was for working people. The shade would dominate through Labor Day when it was then a faux pas to wear white after. Or so the socialites of that time would have you think — not Coco Chanel, she famously wore white year round. Although we all know she was ahead of her time.
Frankly, I’m just excited for summer and to finally be able to break out some cooler clothes. I recently ordered this awesome Floral Printed Jumpsuit from Shoptiques — how cute is it!? If you’re not familiar with them, they are an awesome online site that partners with a bunch of local boutiques with an amazing assortment of clothing and accessories at all price ranges. They also have great sales so be sure to sign up for Shoptiques newsletter. I ordered this romper from them by YA Los Angeles on sale for $27.99! Usually, rompers never fit since my torso is so long, and this one fits like a glove!
While the whole white after Memorial Day may be a completely snobby tradition and one that is rarely subscribed to, I thought it would be fun to partner with some of my lady friends to host a giveaway of one of my favorite white bags of the season! This Thursday, I’ll be giving away this Henri Bendel Beekman Satchel to one lucky winner on instagram! You’ll have to tune into my account @prettyconnected for details and to enter. Good luck!
