Everything about the Waldorf Astoria is a pillar of elegance and last night the luxury hotel opened it’s doors to the first Taste of Waldorf Astoria to celebrate what would be the next Waldorf Astoria iconic dish.
Drawing on this heritage, the Waldorf Astoria paired five of their Master Chefs with five James Beard Foundation Rising Star Semi-Finalist chefs. Each team was tasked to create a modern Waldorf Astoria signature dish with the winning dish joining the ranks of the hotel’s beloved Red Velvet Cake, Eggs Benedict and of course The Waldorf Salad to be their next iconic dish and be added to all Waldorf Astoria restaurant locations worldwide.
Hosted by Lauren, Scala, guests sat along five renowned guest judges as we enjoyed the five course sampler before casting our vote.
The five dishes:
Velvety Pumpkin Soup by Chey Pierre Gagnaire & Chef Chris Kajioka
Celery Risotto Alla Waldorf by Chef Heinz Beck & Chef David Posey
Tierry Y Mar by Chef Jimmy Schmidt & Chef Eduardo Ruiz
Caledonian Highland Egg by The Galvin Brothers & Chef Cara Stadler
Shanghai Suckling Pig by Chef Yan Van Dyk & Chef Marjorie Meek-Bradley
And the winner is… Chef Heinz Beck & Chef David Posey with the delisious Celery Risotto Alla Waldorf (which was actually my vote).
Congrats to the winners and the Waldorf Astoria on a beautiful evening!
