Last week, I had so much fun catching up with one of my favorite dermatologists, Dr. Howard Murad. Since our last encounter he’s written another book, as well as launched some new products and a body care line! Here’s what’s new:
Conquering Cultural Stress The Ultimate Guide to Anti-Aging and Happiness by Howard Murad, MD – In Murad’s latest book, it’s all about conquering cultural stress, which has a deep impact on our happiness and appearance. Our reaction to life and our experiences and this need to be perfect, and to not fail limits us to the point we live in a box. Unlike our inner 2 year old (that wasn’t afraid of rejection or coloring outside the lines), who we should try to be more like. The book is filled with tips and perspective as well as recipes to looking, living and feeling better.
Rapid Collagen Infusion for Lips (1oz/$65) – I’m all about lip treatments and keeping my puckers perfectly pout. And this lightweight anti-aging lip product helps combat visible signs of aging on and around the lips. This is an interesting one! If you’re lips are smooth it makes them very even and even. If your lips are cracked you’ll feel a slight sensation as it repairs. The formula contains anti-aging peptides that delivers micronized collagen aminio acids to plump fine lines and wrinkles. And a translucent serum to promote natural collagen and elastin production. It’s not heavy or waxy like a chapstick and dries clean so it can be applied under lipstick, gloss or balm.
Invisiblur Perfecting Shield Broad Spectrum SPF 30 (1oz/$65)- This is my favorite but you have to wait until April to get your hands on it (it’s worth the wait!). This is the first invisible sunscreen that not only treats the visible signs of aging, it also blurs imperfection and protects against UV damage. This translucent skincare product fits perfectly into any girls regimen by being the last step in your skincare routine and the product before applying makeup. It has silicone in it so if you currently use a primer, I would replace it with this product since it smooths out skin making the whole makeup application that much more even. SPF is my #1 anti-aging tip (and not just for the beach) so if you don’t currently use a daily sunscreen get to it!
Lastly Murad introduced a body collection this month! Welcome the Youth Builder Bodycare line, it smells amazing and consists of the Rejuvenating AHA Hand Cream
Rejuvenating AHA Hand Cream (2.65oz/$25, 1oz/$12) – Use it at night since it gentle exfoliates the hands and helps brighten, reduce the visible signs of aging and improve texture. It’s quick absorbing and hydrating without being heavy or leaving a residue. I don’t want my hands to age so I’ve been religious about using it every night before bed.
Detoxifying White Clay Body Cleanser (6.75oz/26, 2oz/$10) – I was expecting some scrubbers in this one but it’s a lathering cleanser that’s designed to gently removes oil and draw out impurities without causing dryness. It does have Glycolic acid to gently exfoliate and Omega-6 Essential Fatty Acids to hydrate the skin. This wasn’t the most special product out of the whole line from me but the experience was nice and it did leave my skin soft.
Firming Peptide Body Treatment (8oz/$36, 2oz/$12) – I use this out of the shower, and its so luxurious! Packed with peptides and antioxidants it firms, smooths and softens while deeply hydrating skin. It goes on smooth and did I mention it smells amazing!
Collagen Support Body Cream (6oz/$40) – This product is like a heavier version (and even more luxe if that’s even possible) then the Body Treatment. I regret to say I don’t own this product and only tried it at the event but I was lathering it all over it was so nice! If you’re more normal skin and like your body care on the lighter side, go for the Body Treatment. If you are dry and feel most body moisturizers don’t give enough, try this. It still absorbs quickly and is formulated to strengthen, firm, smooth and increases moisture levels to hydrate skin and reduce the visible signs of body aging.
