GET INVOLVED: Unilever Project Sunlight #brightfuture

Large corporations have so much that they can give and do for our communities that when one actually steps up to the plate, the way Unilever has, it’s nothing short of inspiring and what I hope will set an example for more brands to take initiative the way they are.

Unilever recently launched it’s latest film for their Project Sunlight program, “The Way Kids See it.” (Watch it above).  The short shows how kids of all ages care about this world and want to make a difference — many of which are. They are from all over the world and are tackling all sorts of environmental and social issues from wanting clean, trash-free beaches to helping bring food to members of their community.

Giving back and being more sustainable is something that’s always been very important to me. We have a responsibility to our community, environment and often we get so overwhelmed by what we can’t do that we ignore what we can! We often forget small actions can make a big difference in our world. Project Sunlight demos positive, fun ways to make this difference and live more sustainably.

My little brother was recently on a school trip in Costa Rica, where he did all kinds of environmental initiatives and was impressed to learn that people who live there are the happiest in the world. And is now all about riding his bike. Biking is such a great alternative to driving both for the exercise and for the environmental impact. They don’t cause pollution, need gas and they save taxpayers money on repairing roads!

We were so inspired by this video that we have a date to make a make grow our own herbs! We’re big cooks in our family so doing this will not only be exciting for when we’re making dinner but but also in that we’re reducing our carbon footprint and making a positive impact on the environment in doing so. Plus we’ll be up-cycling (which is when you recycle something for an even better use!) our glass jars to do it. (Click HERE for instructions).

What did you think of the film? Does the child in your life have some inspiring ideas how we can make an impact? Share it in the comment section or tweet me @prettyconnected! (Be sure to use the hashtag #brightfuture). I’d love to hear your thoughts!
