Tuesday night I joined The Glam Network and Smirnoff for a much needed girls night out. Hosted at the NYC nail salon, tenoverten we we’re treated to makeovers, mani + pedi’s, massages, tarot card readings, a sushi dinner and an assortment of cocktails using Smirnoff’s new Sorbet Light vodka. Available in three flavors, Mango Passion Fruit, Lemon and Raspberry Pomegranate, Smirnoff had a list of specialty cocktails using their new infused vodka line. I opted to try all three and while I was impressed by the light refreshing taste of them all, hands down their Smirnoff Sorbet Light Mango Passion Fizz cocktail was my favorite (Note the recipe: Mango Passion Fruit Smirnoff Sorbet Light, Fresh Lemon Juice, Simple Syrup or Agave Nectar, Club Soda or Basil Leaves). It may just be my new summer drink!
No girls (or shall I say ladies…) night out would be complete without a gal pal to enjoy it with. I was fortunate to bring one of my favorite makeup artists and good friend, (we used to work at NARS together) Jenny Smith! Sitting in a-joining mani/pedi stations, catching up on life, while getting our nails done reminded me of High School — only this time it came with alcohol. New rule, no more mani’s alone (disclaimer: unless it’s an emergency). I opted for Essie Bikini So Teeny (on of my favorite nail shades from last summer), while Jenny went with one form NARS — their new limited edition nail shade, Madness!
Another one of my other favorite gal pals, the wonderful Valis from Glam!
Can we talk about my tarot card reading for a minute? First off it was with Tarot Diva author, Sasha Graham and it was amazing! I got to pick 3 cards, the first said I was in the greatest, stable relationship with a winner of a man (true, true), the second was the gift of articulation — she asked if I was writing a book! I’m not but you never know (now if only that was bundled with the gift for grammar and spelling…). The third and final card I drew was something about power and how I can do anything and to just pick a direction and the universe will make it thrive. It’s funny she said that. I’ve always said I have a good relationship with the universe. There’s some balance I’ve always believed in where you have to be good to others and by doing so you’ll be good to yourself. Call it a motto, but it’s always worked for me. In any case, lately I’ve been so fortunate to be dripping in opportunities but it’s come with a mountain of work and late nights to fulfill on all of my deadlines and contracts that it’s actually not sustainable. And I’ve been struggling with is how to manage it or now as it was so articulately put, pick a direction. So I’m going to focus on that. Last month I said I wanted to host more events and then bam 17 opportunities came my way. (Dear Universe, I would like to win the lottery…) Lastly we were all allowed to pick one card to take home and I choose the “Ten of Pentacles” which is literally the ‘Happily Ever After” card. So, you can just imagine between that and an endless tray of sushi, it was pretty much the best night ever.
Glam has a knack for awesome gift bags and with this one being summer themed (and surprisingly I haven’t tried any of them yet with the exception of the Yes to Cucumbers Cleansing Towelettes), I’m excited for all of my new goodies. What’s the bag…
Cheers to good friends, a great night and summer filled with endless manis, relaxation and cocktails!
