I’m always in constant amazement of these two suspender wearing, burly gentleman Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra of Costello Tagliapietra and the beautiful, feminine collections they create every season. I just about told them as much when I finally met the duo last year at a party hosted by Cyndi Lauper (brain still exploding meeting that many people I admire in one night).
This New York Fashion Week season marks the first time I went backstage for one of their shows. And I haven’t been able to get this red/pink lip created by Maki Ryoke for MAC Cosmetics out of my head ever since. Literally that punch of color (the combination of MAC Lady Danger lipstick with MAC Pro Process Magenta Pigment on top) took my breath away. If there’s one lip look I’d like to take away from this season, this is it!
The dewy skin, the matte pearl eyes with that intense lip, here’s how to recreate the look:

Inspired by “Psycho glamour”, celebrity hairstylist Nelson Vercher of Rita Hazan Salon and Bernstein & Andriulli created a low ponytail with a center part using René Furterer styling products.
“This is a very glamorous collection but we didn’t want the hair to be overly polished because we ran the risk of looking too old-fashioned. We wanted the hair to be very pretty with a frizzy element but still wearable on and off the runway,” says Nelson. “This is an uptight woman who is just bursting to have fun. The look has a very ‘60s feel to it as well.”
As for the nails, a simple lavender metallic manicure featuring Essie shade Nothing Else Metals.
