Suiting up with Under Armour

Ready to sweat? I am after spending an afternoon working out with Under Armour and learning about their “What’s Beautiful” campaign. As a member of the GLAM Network, a handful of my fellow Glam bloggers and I were invited to a private luncheon and boot camp class hosted by Under Armour at Exhale Spa in the Gansevort Hotel.

When we arrived at Exhale, Under Armour gifted us their Shatter Tote complete with a workout outfit, sneakers and water bottle.

Suited up (pictured left with my loves, Danielle from The Style and Beauty Doctor and Makeda  of Glamazon Diaries), we headed into the studio to gear up for our class and learn more about the brand.

Under Armour presented their “What’s Beautiful” campaign and motto: No Matter What. Sweat. Every Day. What’s Beautiful is a social networking site developed by the brand to encourage women to sign up, set a goal and then exceed it. Their online community is growing by the minute and the women in the challenge are not only bringing it but supporting one another in their achievements. 10 women with the most epic journeys will win a trip to Florida to the Under Armour Women’s Camp Sweat to train with the best. Sign up and set a goal at whatsbeautiful.ua.com. My goal… train and make it through Tough Mudder!

The commercial they launched with the campaign is probably one of the best videos to watch right before working out; showing off just how amazing and powerful women are and what they can do with their bodies (these are actually all real Under Armour consumers and not models).

I’m not sure if I’ll sweat everyday but I certainly did after Exhale’s Boot Camp. As for the gear… from the first moment I put on the UA Spine RPM Running Shoe ($99.99), I could feel the support — it was as if it added an extra bounce in my step (and maybe an extra inch to my height). Whatever is in that sole, I wish I could fit into every shoe I own. It delivers the sturdiness of a stability shoe with the weightlessness of a distance shoe. The dual density foam chassis and carved out the bulk to create an ultra-light, ultra-responsive mile eater that actually mimics the human spine.

I had no idea good socks could make such a difference! Under Armour’s The Grippy II No Show Socks ($11.99), wicks moisture and accelerates evaporation to keep your feet dry, has an embedded arch support to help reduce foot fatigue, and bolsters circulation. Plus includes their odor-preventing technology, and ArmourGrip sock technology to avoid slippage . Usually socks that have this many super powers are tight and heavy, but this is probably one of the most lightweight and comfortable socks that I own and they are an ankle style which I prefer while exercising.

I’m usually a shorts or leggings person, but after trying the, UA StudioLux™ Tight Capri ($64.99), I’ve resolved to purchase the leggings. They thought of everything when creating their Signature StudioLux™ fabric. It’s super soft, breathable, and comfortable.  And the support is incredible. It’s 4-Way Stretch construction aided every motion and stretch my legs did.

I had a mix-up with the bra sizings, so I was slightly constrained in the StrappyLux Tank ($49.99) and Seamless Essential Sports Bra ($29.99) which I wore under it. I’m a size Small in tops but a 32DD in chest so the proportions of my stomach region in comparison to my chest don’t make me a suited candidate for a built in bra styles. That said for anyone with more normal proportions, the StrappyLux Tank is also made with their Signature StudioLux™ fabric, and minus the tight chest area for me was otherwise very comfortable and kept me amazingly dry and flexible throughout my workout. Unfortunately the Seamless Sports Bra is also really designed for A/B and C cups, which I hope they expand out to larger sizes since it felt amazing on! Obviously, it was also too tight, but even so the fabric offered the best support of any seamless bra I’ve tried and it was so flattering!

Now there is good news for us chesty ladies. I spent a long time talking to the Under Armour team and they have taken these size ranges into consideration when rolling out new gear in the coming seasons. Currently, the best option for sports bras is their Armour Bra™, which is available in an A, B, C, D and DD size cup. You can tell by the construction of the bra from this inside that this style is no joke! While designing it, they worked with Dr. Joanna Scurr, the authority on biomechanics of the female body and tested hundreds of prototypes to come up with this style. It’s the first sports bra I’ve owned that feels secure around my back and separates the band size from the cup fit. It really holds my chest in place and offers full support without digging into my sides or enabling any bouncing. It makes working out for the large chested woman a lot easier.

If you follow me on Instagram or twitter you’ve probably seen some of my pictures from the event!
