The countdown to one of the most anticipated beauty industry events of the year starts now! Back for its 11th year and follow the success of the 10th anniversary in 2015, The Makeup Show event lineup is bigger and better – if that’s even possible! Mark your calendars for April 29 – May 2nd because here’s what we have to look forward to:

The Makeup Show Gala will be held Friday, April 29 from 7-10 pm and will shed light onto the next ten years by looking back into the past. Celebrating David Bowie, this year’s contest and theme will be “Sound and Vision” and guests are encouraged to arrive in either cocktail attire or their “Bowie-best” (lightening bolt makeup encouraged) to enjoy an evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dancing and networking.

The Keynote & Business Forum is a staple for The Makeup Show and will highlight a range of topics and themes such as innovation, diversity and signature celebrity style. This year’s keynotes include Scott Barnes, sharing insight on “The Signature Style of a Celebrity Artist”, Nick Lujan and Lori Taylor, Hosted by James Vincent discussing “The Skin That I’m In: Diversity in Artistry and Application” and Gregory Arlt on his career in makeup.

The Career Fair is back Sunday, May 1 from 4:30-6 pm to provide the face-to-face interview and career tips you need to land your dream job.

Finish off the weekend with the Beauty Tour NYC as James Vincent, The Makeup Show’s Director of Artistry and Education takes you through a champs filled ride around the city sightseeing his favorite makeup haunts.

PC featured in Smashbox Lights, Camera, BB Video- You can be too! (+enter to win a years supply!)

Last week I gushed over Smashbox’s new Camera Ready BB Cream with SPF 35 (read my review HERE), and I’m so excited to be one of the featured bloggers for their  their BB Cream campaign! And that’s all good news for you, because we want you to be apart of it too! Smashbox is doing a fun interactive video to give you the in studio photo-shoot experience and the chance to win a year’s supply of BB Cream!

Here’s how it works: Starting April 2nd, go to Smashbox’s Facebook page (click HERE). Then on the “Lights, Camera BB Cream tab” simply upload 5 pictures of yourself and then your video will be made! You can then share it with your friends and get them to vote for you! Every week, the video with the most votes wins a year’s supply of BB Cream, plus more Smashbox faves. It’s so easy and literally takes 2 minutes to do.

As one of the featured bloggers, I got a sneak peek into the app, and made my video! Check it out below or you can view it HERE.

Now go out there and make your own! It’s so quick and easy (and fun!). Don’t forget to share your video with me. Leave a comment with the link or tweet it to me @PrettyConnected. xxLara

Smashbox Be Discovered Collection for Spring 2012

Smashbox Founder, Davis Factor introducing the "Be Discovered" Collection

Smashbox has blown it out of the water for their Spring 2012 “Be Discovered” collection and shade extension to their Be Legendary Lipstick range.

I was introduced to the Spring 2012 collection by Smashbox Founder + Photographer, Davis Factor, and their Global Pro Lead Artist, Lori Taylor, who we’re beaming with excitement over the new Smashbox packaging and new lipstick formula for the Be Legendary line.

After playing around with the collection over the past few weeks, I can understand why! The Spring 2012 collection consists of the “Be Discovered” Eyeshadow Palette, Cream Blush Trio (2 shades), Jet Set Eyeliner & Brush Set (2 shades), and 3 new Be Legendary lipstick shades including Pink Petal, Honey and Melondrama.

Smashbox Be Discovered Eyeshadow Palette ($44)

The “Be Discovered” Eyeshadow Palette, it’s a great mix of 8 richly pigmented neutrals and pastel shades, perfect for spring. The formula is silky (plus it’s crease-resistant!) and goes on so smooth that it’s incredibly easy to apply, even with your fingers (although I do suggest brushes). Check out Lori and her how to tutorial on how to get a pretty spring look using this palette.

Smashbox Be Discovered Cream Blush Trio ($29)

If you avoid blushes (powder or cream based), because you find them to be too cakey then you need to try the Be Discovered Cream Blush Trio. It comes in two shades, In Lights an Show Biz which can be worn alone or the trio shades can be mixed together. Show Biz made me re-fall in love with blush. It’s so easy to apply and blend, it’s genius! I start with the pink shade on my cheekbone and then start working the highlighter shade and it’s like you can’t miss! It’s so easy to darken and lighten to the perfect shade and get anything from just a light pinched cheek to a stronger blush look.

Smashbox Be Discovered Jet Set Eyeliner & Brush Set ($22)

I’ll admit I’m not the biggest cream or gel eyeliner fan that’s not an eyeshadow, mainly because I find pencils easier to apply and I’m always on the go and pencils easier to carry. That said, creams are easier for a smokey eye look or thicker line along my eyelid and the curve of the brush in this set makes it glide so perfectly that it makes it easy to keep control and get a
