Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It’s all about family and being grateful for everything we have. Then immediately after we hit Black Friday/Cyber Monday which is about as consumerist as it gets. We go from being grateful for all that we have to this complete 180 of we need more! And a lot more. So much more because how can we not at these great deals. Now don’t get me wrong, I love a good sale as much as the next person, it just has always felt a little aggressive to me (especially now that the deals are starting as early as 6pm on Thanksgiving day). Which is why I’m glad we’ve seen such a big push this year for Giving Tuesday!

On December 1st, the day after Cyber Monday, you can join the global celebration of generosity. As the organization leading the charge put it, we have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back.

The idea is simple. Find a way for you, your family, community, company or organization can come together to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving (if it’s on social, use the #givingtuesday).
