Happy Fourth of July! In honor of this Independence Day, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate some coveted brands made right here in the U S of A. According to our friends at Save The Garment Center (whose sole mission is to Promote, Preserve, and Save NYC as the Fashion Capital of the World), in 1960, 95% of all clothing sold in America was made in America. Now that number is closer to 5%.
So as you pack up those bags and head to the beach this weekend, make sure to include some of our favorite finds made right on our home turf!
Oscar de la Renta – Just another reason to bow down to this fashion legend.
American Apparel – The name doesn’t lie. From comfort hoodies to flattering leggings, more then a few of their basics are in our wardrobe.
Jason Wu – Far before Michelle Obama made this designer a household name by picking his design as the inaugural gown (twice), we sat 2nd row at his first fashion show at Bryant Park. Now we’re lucky to get standing. And with good reason, his collections are something to be admired.
