Choupette’s Diary: Toast + Finn Tie the Knot

toast-and-finn-wedding-simon-doonanIt’s common knowledge that I am not a fan of most mangy mutts but for Toast and Finn I’ve always made an exception. Just like Daddy Karl Lagerfeld, I am an equal opportunist when it comes to marriage equality and the same goes for dog weddings. Let Toast and Finn’s nuptials be the first of their kind, raising awareness for the importance of marriage equality. Who are we to stand in the way of true love?

Today, I bore witness to Toast and Finn tying the knot and there might have been a tear or two shed… not by moi of course! Zola wedding registry hosted the dream wedding for Instagram’s most beloved dog influencers Toast (@toastmeetsworld) and Finn (@friendsoffinn) in support of National Mill Dog Rescue. Unlike a traditional wedding, the celebration of love (don’t tell anyone I uttered that phrase) provided a portion of proceeds from the gift registry and ticket sales to the National Mill Dog Rescue. Stopping puppy mills is a cause near and dear to both the bride and grooms heart and we all love when our favorite celebrity animals get behind such a worthy cause.

Officiated by Cindy Adams and walked down the aisle by her Godfather, Simon Doonan, Toast was a blushing bride surrounded by loved ones, including fellow social media canine influencers. Speaking of the guest list….

In fashion news, Toast donned Marchesa and Finn wore Darcy Miller. I’ll let it slide that the bride didn’t wear Chanel but only because her jewel encrusted veil was mesmerizing.

Vows were barked, cake was cut, it was the wedding of the year. Cheers to the happy couple! Wishing you a lifetime of puppy love.

Choupette’s Diary: Five Things Week Deux

CA

(un) The highly anticipated Mademoiselle Privé exhibit at the Saatchi Gallery is coming to a close. With one week left, it’s your last chance to take a journey through the origins of CHANEL’s creations capturing the charismatic personality and irreverent spirit of Mademoiselle Mommy Chanel and Daddy Karl Lagerfeld.

(deux) While I’d never be caught dead wearing it out of the house the Thync system is my favorite beauty tech gadget. Depending on whether I want to catnap or to chase laser beams, it provides me either calm or energy vibes.

(trois) La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Cream Sheer is my miracle in a bottle for the fall weather. It is identical in effectiveness as their iconic Skin Caviar Luxe Cream, but in a sheer, satiny texture. Powered by a potent concentration of precious caviar extract and their exclusive Cellular Complex, Skin Caviar Luxe Cream Sheer lifts and firms as it recontours and redefines. Not that I need that extra lift quite yet…

(quatre) Have you heard of high energy healing? Neither had I until Yes and Yes seduced me with it!

(cinq) Yesterday was a sad day for the fashion industry when Raf Simons stepped down from Dior after three-and-a-half years. Hopefully that noncompete agreement won’t leave him twiddling his thumbs for a year.

Choupette’s Oscars 2015 Best Dressed List

1

As I sat sipping Veuve Clicquot, waiting to be dazzled by Hollywood starlets, I quickly grew disappointed (not to the level of Grumpy Cat but more McKayla is not impressed). With nominees like Marion Cotillard, Julianne Moore, and Reese Witherspoon I expected to be giving standing ovations. It’s the Academy Awards ladies! Jooj up the twins, don the Chopard diamonds, add a pinch of Harry Winston and a dash of Choo.

Choupette’s Diary: A Chic Guide to Halloween

The popular twitter handle @Choupettes Diairy comes to life every week on Pretty Connected with ongoing commentary from the point of view of Karl Lagerfeld’s fiercely, fashionable, high-maintenance cat, Choupette.

Choupette Lagerfeld

Trick or treat smell my paws (but don’t make any fashion faux pas)! Since men and women alike idolize moi, honor my beauty by dressing up as a fashion feline this Halloween. Take a cue from Revenge‘s Ashley Madekwe and her husband last year as they paid homage to Daddy Karl Lagerfeld and me.
Costume Must-Haves:
Put your paws up if you’re dressing like moi for Halloween. Hashtag #ChoupetteCostume & I’ll be sharing my best lookalikes on Twitter & Instagram. Extra points if you can get your man to dress like Daddy! Do you dare dahhhlings?

Choupette’s Diary: A Chic Guide to Feminism in Fashion

WeCanDoIt

Emma Watson and I have more in common than just our fashion icon, “Mommy” Coco Chanel – we know that ‘feminism’ isn’t a swear word, rather it’s misunderstood. Recently, the political world has seen a lot of promise on the issue but much less progress. This disillusionment about the female’s role in a patriarchal society extends down even into fashion.

The industry is one dominated by females, yet there is a disconnect between empowerment and exploitation. It’s easy to blame fashion for forcing scantily clad young girls onto the catwalk and photoshopping even the thinnest model on the cover of magazines. We justify it as being “edgy” even though it perpetuates a male exploitation of the female form.

Coinciding with the portrayal of women in fashion, there should be more women on the executive level of large fashion conglomerates. The roadblock is the never-ending debate over equal pay, which affects women disproportionately.

a_3x-horizontal

Instead of focusing on the past wrongdoings of fashion’s crawl toward female empowerment, we should be building a world where all women (and felines alike) have the opportunity to receive an equal education, opportunities, and careers. I’m calling for a restructuring on how the fashion industry – and the world – addresses youth, beauty, sexuality, and career-driven women.

Find out how Chanel is standing up for feminism.

Choupette’s Diary: A Chic Guide To Being Moi

Choupette's book

By now you’ve heard the news, I have a book releasing in September entitled Choupette: The Private Life of a High-Flying Fashion Cat.” The long-awaited publication will include tips on diet, beauty, healthcare, and fashion, as well as insight into my secret loves and hates (more hates than loves).

Choupette’s Diary: A Chic Guide to Being a Cat Lady

Me

Not all cat ladies are created equal. Those not in the fashion sphere look at “cat ladies” as lonely single women who walk around their overstuffed (read: Hoarder) apartment talking to their felines. Non! The world of fashion has challenged this stereotype, transforming “cat ladies” into sophisticated high-style women.

I may have started said “trend” but since June is official “Adopt a Cat” month, I’d like to honor the Fashion Friends of Felines:

1. Harley Viera-Newton (Model/DJ): Marmite  & Tarzan

2. Christene Barberich (Refinery29 EIC): Phoebe

Choupette’s Diary: A Chic Guide to Father’s Day

Screen Shot 2014-06-06 at 3.54.21 PM

Gifts? Why yes I would love one! Gifting? Not my cup of tea. With Father’s Day only one week away, it got me thinking about the important things in life besides private jets and black cards; the love and support Daddy Karl Lagerfeld has shown me, opening his chateau to moi when I was just a mangy model’s muse. In celebration of Daddy, here is a list of his favorite things:

1. Diet Coke — A staple in any fashion diet.

2. Sketch Books — For when inspiration strikes or I strike a pose.

3. Klorane dry shampoo — He who has the whitest hair wins.

4. Galignani — And you wonder how Daddy’s library got so full…

5. iPhone(s) — Yes, plural.

6. Sunglasses — “They are like eyeshadow. They make everything look younger and prettier.”

7. Pencils — Perfect for sketches or batting around Daddy’s desk incessantly.

8. Gloves – Preferably fingerless.

9. A Classic Fuji camera

10. Sweatpants — Non! Just kidding, Daddy!

Choupette’s Dairy: A Chic Guide to Meeting Your Plus One

Screen Shot 2014-04-18 at 4.26.58 PM

As invites stream in for previews, galas, and spring fêtes, the dreaded plus one on the RSVP card seems daunting. Don’t spend your Friday night indulging in cake, which will only induce a sugar coma and possibly tears of self-pity. He doesn’t have to be a male model like Uncle Baptiste Giabiconi, but he does have to have a dapper style, savvy sense of humor, and cunning networking skills.
