Jo Malone Launches NEW Home Collection

Jo Malone Home Collection

Does anyone else have total brand envy when it comes to Jo Malone? I literally have fantasies about owning a London flat and having my apartment inspired by their store design and packaging (and of course my imaginary home is fully stocked with their products).

Which is exciting, because this month, Jo Malone plays into my fantasy by introducing an assortment of limited edition home products. The collection consists of Scent Surround Diffusers (165ml/$75), Room Sprays (175ml/$55), Sachets ($35) and Drawer Liners ($45) and is available in three of their signature scents, Lime Basil & Mandarin, Pomegranate Noir and Red Roses. They really are so luxurious and add a little je ne sais quoi to a room.

If you’re wondering what I’m taking about as far as Jo Malone aesthetic, step into the their Bleecker Street boutique (or really any of their stores) and you’ll know what I’m talking about.

And while you’re there, if you’re looking for something fresh and new for spring, try their London Blooms collection! It consists of three new fragrances: Peony & Moss (my favorite), White Lilac & Rhubarb and Iris & Lady Moore.

The Jo Malone London Home Collection and London Bloom fragrances are now available at Jo Malone.

How to Get Makeup Stains Out

When it comes to my clothing, I’m very careful about NOT getting makeup stains on them; however, I recently received some lipstick samples and in a fit of excitement opened the cap and this fuchsia shade flung out of it’s packaging and ricocheted all over my white, antique fainting couch (I know, how does that even happen?). Only me… So when I received an email regarding an article from the May 2012 issue of ShopSmart magazine (the same publishers as the Consumer Reports), I wanted to share their advice to help you prevent and remove makeup stains and deodorant marks from your clothes, for all of you out there who have felt my pain at one point or another.

ShopSmart Tips for How to Get Makeup Stains Out:

  • Prevent a stain. It might look silly, but putting a polyester scarf over your head before pulling on a dress or top can prevent makeup and hairspray stains in the first place. It won’t muss your hair and it helps tight stuff slide on easily. Or spring for a reusable nylon makeup mask, which costs about $4 at most drugstores.
  • Nix deodorant marks. To remove those unsightly white streaks from your little black dress or other clothing before they set in, you can buy special texturized sponges made just for the job. Or grab that pair of ripped panty hose you were going to toss and use it to rub away the marks. No panty hose? Try a nylon sock or a used dryer sheet.
  • Sponge it up. The foam that often comes on hangers from the dry cleaner can also lift deodorant marks and foundation. Wrap the foam around a finger, then press and gently brush on the stain to lift it without smearing. Still there?

Dressbarn's Flutter Sleeve Ruffle Wrap Dress

After working with Dressbarn for their suit drive to benefit Dress for Success (I hope some of you we’re able to donate!), the brand approached me for a fun challenge — finding a universally flattering dress despite size and shape. Does a one-dress-looks-good-on-all frock exist?

Well here it goes… the 5 Ways to Wear It: Spring Fashion Challenge.

The Contestants: 5 bloggers, 5 different shapes

The Dress: Dressbarn’s Flutter Sleeve Ruffle Wrap Dress in Cobalt Blue ($39.99)

Description: Flirtatious ruffles flutter at the sleeves, edges and hemline of this slinky monochrome wrap dress, which ties at the waist to create an instant hourglass shape. 37″ from shoulder to hem. Full wrap detail closure. Material is 95% polyester/5% spandex. Machine Wash. Available in Size 4 – 24.

{How I rocked the Flutter Sleeve Ruffle Wrap Dress}

I went for more of an edgy rock-glam look when outfitting this dress. I styled the wrap dress with Ray-Ban sunglasses, Winter Kate jacket, mark. necklace, Express bracelet, Skweez Couture tights, Zara shoes, and Rebecca Minkoff bag.

Usually I find when shopping online the items look better on the site then when they come in the mail. Not the case when it came to this dress. It fits like a glove and cobalt blue is all the rage. It’s an easy dress to take from day to night and style in a variety of ways. It’s also really easy to pack so this dress will for sure be going on my Beirut-Rome trip I have planned next month!

For all of you Dressbarn fans, they we’re nice enough to offer a 20% off coupon for all of you to enjoy, valid through 4/30. Details below:
