Choupette’s Diary: A Chic Guide to Father’s Day

Gifts? Why yes I would love one! Gifting? Not my cup of tea. With Father’s Day only one week away, it got me thinking about the important things in life besides private jets and black cards; the love and support Daddy Karl Lagerfeld has shown me, opening his chateau to moi when I was just a mangy model’s muse. In celebration of Daddy, here is a list of his favorite things:

1. Diet Coke — A staple in any fashion diet.

2. Sketch Books — For when inspiration strikes or I strike a pose.

3. Klorane dry shampoo — He who has the whitest hair wins.

4. Galignani — And you wonder how Daddy’s library got so full…

5. iPhone(s) — Yes, plural.

6. Sunglasses — “They are like eyeshadow. They make everything look younger and prettier.”

7. Pencils — Perfect for sketches or batting around Daddy’s desk incessantly.

8. Gloves – Preferably fingerless.

9. A Classic Fuji camera

10. Sweatpants — Non! Just kidding, Daddy!

As invites stream in for previews, galas, and spring fêtes, the dreaded plus one on the RSVP card seems daunting. Don’t spend your Friday night indulging in cake, which will only induce a sugar coma and possibly tears of self-pity. He doesn’t have to be a male model like Uncle Baptiste Giabiconi, but he does have to have a dapper style, savvy sense of humor, and cunning networking skills.
