Meet my Muse: Makeda of Glamazon Diaries rocking our Mask Chain!

Makeda Saggau-Sackey of Glamazon Diaries rocking our Lara Mini Chain Mask Strap

Meet my friend Makeda Saggau-Sackey, or glamazondiaries.com. She’s one of the most amazing creators and photographers, and a longtime friend to me and my brand. We’ve hosted events together, done the Women’s March and countless collaborations. She was one of the first influencers to support my Pretty Connected accessories line, rocking both my chain straps and boss rings when we first launched and so graciously agreed to be one of my models for my mask chains. She has incredible style and is a great Instagram follow @glamazondiaries. She wrote this great post introducing herself.

We’ve been through a lot in our almost 10 years as friends and more so then “ally’s”, a word that is being used a lot, we’re family. Our support has always been a two way street and when I think of words like equality, that a great way to look at our friendship, as equals. We’ve created opportunities for each other, supported each other and her wins are my wins and vice versa. We are stronger together.

On Friday, she and 27 other amazing influencers (many of which are friends, and Pretty Connected shop wearers/supporters), got together to do a tribute to Breonna Taylor for her birthday and created one of the most meaningful posts (see above) to demand justice for her.

In a movement that has been all about amplifying melanated voices this group of powerful women made it so easy on us to share and repost. As soon as I saw the post, I shared, and had over 600 shares alone! Her page had over 4,000 which then resulted in those 4,000 (plus the other 27 creators shares), leading to more shares, which also landed them on the Instagram pages of Janet Jackson, Snoop Dogg, Jamie Foxx, Courtney Love, Caterina Scorsone, Christian Siriano and countless others! I can’t even imagine what the magnification from there looked like. This is also the definition of stronger together and to never underestimate the power of change a group can make. What started with 28 voices quickly trickled to thousands and who knows, maybe millions of shares/posts!

As we’ve seen a lot of coverage on black influencers/creators to follow, and diversifying your feed, I want to highlight all the women in this post and encourage you to follow them:
