The road ahead…

For the first time in a long time I’m looking to the future with a big question mark. I was considering a big life change. I love blogging but after doing it full-time for so long I thought I might want a change of pace but New York always has a way of opening doors and helping me find new ways to grow. The pull has never been so strong. I was actually supposed to be in LA for a few months but all my plans were set on hold in anticipation of what could be the biggest month for my site! My Olay campaign is seconds away from launching, Glamour Magazine asked me to judge their beauty awards for the 2nd year in a row and I’m filming a project with New Beauty and Amazon StyleCode Live. I also have something in the works with Health, Vanity Fair and Redbook and all of this gives me chills. In a good way, I’m so excited! I’m not a stranger to humbling moments and big collaborations, I’m just not used to them happening all at the same time. I’m not in the habit of comparing myself to other people so sometimes I need to take a step back to realize OMG this is a big deal!

Growth is important, no matter what stage you are in your blogging career. And so are opportunities. The fact that 9 years later this industry finds new ways to surprise and challenge me gives me hope. And hey a winter in New York isn’t so bad… at least I have warm boots. The only Sorel’s I’ve ever owned are the Joan of Arctic style, which I love but are literally for the arctic. They make my feet sweat unless it’s extremely cold outside. The perfect compromise are these Sorel Tivoli II Blanket Boot, and I love them in red!

Weekend Style: Hanes off Duty

I know it’s probably a sign that the world is coming to an end when we’re hitting mid-60 degree weather in December but it’s hard not to be all smiles about how beautiful it is out. When I’m not running around to events I’m all about comfort clothing. A sweatshirt, some boyfriend jeans and a pair comfortable boots is the sign of a good weekend. I’m actually pretty obsessed with these Amos by Leila Stone boots. I’ve been looking for a pair of wine colored boots for a while and I got these during fashion week from ShoeDazzle. They are a pleather lace-up Oxford bootie so they can get totally rained on without an ounce of damage.

Style Mondays: Dark Summer

Pretty Connected Style Mondays Buddah Girl Jewelry styled by Tiffany Pinero

Going back to black is a perfect curve ball to throw at your summer wardrobe (especially as we start to transition to fall). While brights and vibrant prints are always a staple for the season, there is an overwhelming presence of cool associated with a dark and daring ensemble. A maxi dress you’ve worn dozens of times over can be transformed with a different shoe choice and some bold accessories. I recently discovered BuDhaGirl, their wrap bracelets and necklace (even wore backwards) complete the look. Unleash your inner

Style Mondays: Tracked out

Athletic jackets inspired us on the runways and now are the must have item for summer nights. This neutral piece with yellow highlights by d.brand, adds a touch of cool to everything. Lucky you, d.brand is running a 20% off special (use code “db20” at checkout) — also check out their denim! Don’t be afraid to experiment with colored accents, and mixing styles (track jackets with heels, dress shirts with cut off shorts); just strike the right balance to keep it fresh and modern and not tragically out of place! Speaking of modern, don’t you think a leather cap adds a little extra something to a look too? Keep scrolling for some sporty summer style with an edge.

Lab Top Bags Option 2 - Top Shop

Since I am constantly running around the city from appointment to meeting to preview (to who knows what?), in between sessions I can generally be found nestled in a coffee shop glued to my laptop. And considering my laptop is almost always by my side, having a bag that’s functional and fashionable is important.

Style Mondays: Bold + Basic

Lara Eurdolian

I spent the weekend in the Hamptons with StyleCaster at their glorious summer haven (pictures and full recap coming soon!). On Saturday night, Parker New York and HauteLook hosted a dinner and let me play dress up. As one to never pass up a great basic top (it’s a style staple!), I immediately fell in love with this Parker tank that features a partially open back white striped cut-out. The detail makes it more summery and give it a little somethin-somethin. Plus if it’s too risque for the office, just add a jacket over it and then peel it off for after work drinks. The girls from HauteLook introduced me to two new jewelry designers, t+j Designs, and Jami Rodriguez. t+j did the fabulous necklace I’m wearing and make great, affordable statement pieces, while Jami Rodriguez does a lot with chains and charms (two things I’m very into). Both designers will be available on HauteLook so be sure to sign up for their newsletter and stay tuned for their upcoming sales!

Style Mondays: Biker Babe or Skater Chick?

Lara Eurdolian, Rag and Bone

True, rising temperatures don’t always seem to be the ideal situation for a little bit of leather. Sometimes though, in the midst of needing a popsicle and maxi dresses galore,  we get a gem of a day and you can sport this bad to the bone texture. A pair of slick shorts can add some street to the simplest of outfits and lets  be real it doesn’t hurt when it comes from Rag & Bone either.

For the Love of Fashion Rag & Bone

Rag & Bone Designers Marcus Wainwright & David Neville with Director RJ Cutler

I got back to NYC from Burning man yesterday and it’s been a whirlwind ever since! Weeding through emails, trying to stay coordinated and create a calendar of events, but between Fashion’s Night Out and New York Fashion Week I’m at a loss.  I just returned from a place where phones and computers we’re foreign and time doesn’t exist, getting back into the swing of things is a little bit more overwhelming than expected.

Fortunately, I did check my mail, and found an invitation for a private screening of ‘For the Love of Fashion Rag & Bone’, a short film by RJ Cutler (the Director of The September Issue) at the Crosby Hotel. Jetlag was not keeping me from this (that and it was sponsored by Starbucks Frappuccino, so I knew staying caffeinated would not be an issue).  The film takes you on the journey with head designers of Rag & Bone Marcus Wainwright and David Neville in their final days prior to showing their Fall 2010 collection at NY Fashion Week. Not to spoil the ending but the collection is a huge success – to quote Anna Wintour “It’s very strong”.

Check it out for yourself, I found the video online for all of you to watch. Click HERE, enjoy!
