Life updates, Blogger advice and this retro Lafayette 148 outfit

Happy last day of February everyone! This year is flying by and I for one am ready for a vacation. It has been the most exciting few months of filming and magazine collaborations which I can not wait to share with all of you! Between Health Magazine announcing my campaign with Olay (we have another surprise coming soon!), Redbook featuring my charity and I got to announce my partnership with Vanity Fair, February will be hard to beat. However, March brings some awesome projects with Glamour, New Beauty and Amazon which I dying to see! I started my site 9 years ago because I worked for the best beauty and skincare brands and it felt like no one was leveraging experts or sharing product formulations and information in the way it’s so readily available now! And the fact that this industry (not just in beauty but fashion and travel too) continues to surprise me and push my creativity, it is never a dull moment. What I did with Olay was groundbreaking. I’ve never known a blogger or really any identifiable person go through clinicals to have their skin checked during product testing. It’s always just an anonymous clinical statistic and some number of a percentage of women that saw changes.  I’ll have more to unveil on that soon! I think the best part of working non-stop this new year was after months of being excited but so exhausted from early call times and the hours I spent researching, testing and reading before going on camera is now I get to sit back and see all of these projects come to life. Every collaboration has been so different and I’m so inspired how much magazines are embracing bloggers, these past few months I have been inspired and challenged in ways I didn’t even know were possible.

Yesterday was a dream. Castaway Nantucket hosted an intimate boat ride around New York City. With perfect views of the skyline and around the Statue of Liberty, we could not ask for better weather. The two brothers photoed above are the men behind the brand, bringing to life coastal clothing and Nantucket lifestyle of embroidered shorts and pants, seersucker shirts, prints and now emoji’s! I’m originally from Boston so It’s second nature going back to my preppy routes.

As part of the Barton & Gray Mariners Club we boarded a beautiful Hinckley boat and coasted the afternoon away. It’s not everyday a Tuesday can feel like Friday or that I’m ever this relaxed in this city! It’s amazing what some fresh air and afternoon rose can do for a person.

Thank you Castaway Nantucket for having me!

Last month, I had a pair of midnight (ahem, “galaxy blue“), velvet pants ordered for an event my friend Natalie Zfat was hosting at Lafayette 148 at their new store opening in soho. At the time I thought was I really losing it wanting velvet pants? And then somehow in the past two weeks I’ve seen non-stop articles — even from Vogue on how it’s the hot new fall trend. I’m so glad I chose them since literally from the moment I put them on yesterday, I had compliments at every show, sidewalk and restaurant I went to asking where they were from. Usually Lafayette 148 is my go to for great basics, but this season they have some really amazing statement pieces that I’ve been eyeing. The new store is beautiful, and had me eyeing these red patent leather flats (aren’t they gorgeous!?) and Infinity Cuff bracelet that may need to be my next splurge.

This outfit was perfect for the Lafayette 148 store launch party since yesterday was one of those full, morning to night New York Fashion Week days filled where I had no time to go home in between. This outfit took me from day to night (I had a black crop top under my long sleeve top and makeup to intensify the look in the evening). The black suede pumps  and velvet pants really tied everything together and I love how the pants look almost navy or black in dark lighting and then in the sun really lighten up. They are also available in black and I’m hoping they’ll make them in their signature cabernet color as well. I would be totally down for some burgundy velvet pants! I’m clearly having a 90s moment. And props to my Henri Bendel Uptown Blocked Satchel bag for being able to hold my life in it. I had two books, my camera, 2 gift bags in addition to my phone charger, wallet, makeup case… the usual necessities in it.

If there’s one thing New York Fashion Week brought on it’s winter. Up until now we’ve been in a fantasy world in New York thinking we’d skirt the whole cold weather thing with the warm fronts of January dipping into February. Last week I kicked off fashion week with Lafayette 148 and the winter pieces I picked out have come in so handy. This Rabbit-Fur Knit Tube Scarf from
