Fashion Week Makeup Top Picks from Walgreens

walgreens makeup picksFashion Week is almost upon us and while coordinating outfits can be a production, your makeup choices don’t have to be. It’s still so hot in New York in September so heavy makeup is never a good idea. Considering the shows are hosted at varying venues all over the city, opting for long wear and waterproof formulas that require minimal touch-ups is the way to go.

The designers are also showing Spring/Summer 2016 looks which generally means more natural looks ranging from no makeup-makeup, pretty highlighted skin to the California sun-kissed theme we see every year.

Using some drugstore favorites from Walgreens, I created an easy look that falls in line with some of my fashion week makeup predictions that’s also appropriate for the September shows.

In the words of every famed makeup artist, great makeup starts with great skincare so for this look I used Boots Botanics Triple Age Renewal Facial Oil the night before. It’s a great PM treatment to wake up to smooth hydrated skin.

From there I prepped my skin with No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Serum Tube followed by Boots Botanics All Bright Radiance Balm, which helps to deliver a brighter complexion and smells divine. This is a great product for tired skin to help revive it and make it glow.

Once the skincare set in, I applied No7 Botanics Radiance Highlighter Pen above my cheekbones for a nice highlight followed by No7 Perfectly Bronzed Mosaic Bronzer for a golden, sun kissed glow. Using a bronzer brush, apply the powder in the shape of a “3” starting from the forehead and curving along the cheekbone and then down to the side of my chin on both sides. What’s great about this bronzer is you can control the level of intensity from all the different shades blended in the compact. There are also some pretty pink tones that can be used as a blush to change the look from a more bronzed goddess look to something more feminine.

walgreens_makeup_look2I kept the lips simple and applied Circa Lustrous Shine Lip Polish in the Satin Blush shade. It gives a very natural soft pink glow that’s very subtle since my lips are so dark. It’s also great on top of lipstick to give a shine gloss finish. The formula is very smooth and feels like a balm versus a lipgloss as it’s not sticky or tacky.walgreens_makeup_lookFor the eyes, I started with Circa Color Saturated Eye Crayon in Sparking Citrine under my brows. It’s a longwearing eye shadow, liner and base in one and has a great creamy formula that goes on smooth. Because of the color I use this particular shade under the brow bone to help highlight and bring definition to my brows. From there I applied Nonie Crème Colour Prevails Eye Shimmer Powder in Gold, starting in the corner of the eyes extending to the crease and eyelid for some added shine. The finish is really smooth and offers a very pretty sheen that isn’t glittery or going to make you feel like you raided a teenager’s closet. I then applied Circa Vivid Vinyl Eye Lining Fluid along the lash line in shade Blue Topaz. This is actually a very cool product that has a very thin application brush that’s surprisingly easy to maneuver and has a vinyl-like finish. If you have difficulty with making a straight line either go in with a pencil and apply this on top or dip makeup remover on a Q-Tip and perfect any lines. Finish off with No7 Lash Impact Mascara.

Essie shade Romper RoomFor nails I like to keep it simple during fashion week and pick a versatile color that will match a variety of my outfit picks. Featured above is Essie shade Romper Room, which is a pretty pale pink.
