5 Unexpected Travel Products to Have on Your Radar

Since the dawn of this year I feel like I’ve been on a plane or Amtrak every other week (likely because I have!). Here are some unexpected delights that I recently discovered that are now in my permanent travel kit.

1. Joy Mangano My Little Steamer Go Mini ($29.95, which includes the Mini and Premier size steamer) – I got this during fashion week at the HSN preview and it’s AMAZING! It’s similar in design and works almost exactly like an electric water kettle, except for the nozzle is shaped accordingly to steam your clothes. Once the water boils the steam is released and presses lightweight fabrics that are often too sensitive to iron. Remember the key to steaming is going from the inside not on the surface the way you do with ironing. Weighing roughly a pound, it’s one of my favorite new discoveries!

2. Jellyfish Music Cube Bluetooth speaker ($39.99) – My friend and Accessory Expert, Kimmie Smith hosted a twitter party a few months back and introduced me to this speaker. The little square fits in anything, it’s so tiny and yet it packs great, loud and most importantly, clear sound. I hook it up to my phone and put it in the bathroom when I’m showering and take it on all of my travels now (I can’t wait to use it at the beach this summer). With a built-in rechargeable battery, it provides up to 4 hours of play and has a 30 foot wireless range. It’s a very impressive little speaker!

3. Lori Leigh Traveler Jewelry Organizer ($24.95) – another great find Kimmie introduced me to! The hard case jewelry box keeps my accessories from being crushed and getting tangled. It has two top pockets as well as snaps to hold everything in place and includes an earring tray.

4. Unmarx ($9.99) – It’s like a thin squashy sponge wrapped in mesh netting that weighs next to nothing and yet when you rub it against fabrics it instantly wipes off deodorant marks, lint, pet hair and powders! I had a DVF wrap dress I hadn’t worn in over a year and when I went to put it on noticed some aged deodorant marks. I just rubbed the Unmarx against it a few times and it was gone in seconds. I have yet to have other mishaps that warranted it’s use but just from that one experience earned it it’s place in my travel kit.

5. La Prairie Anti-Aging Eye and Lip Perfection a Porter ($150) – I know it’s a splurge but it’s been a total lifesaver for me when I travel. I get dry lips and puffy eyes when I’m in the air and this product completely revitalizes me in seconds. The dual compact has an anti-aging eye cream gel on top and lip balm underneath. Both products melt into skin in seconds and are perfect for anyone on the go.
